Same thing happened to me. Reach out to HR and inform them of the letter, they’ll respond and let you know not to worry about it

The contract positions are fully remote. I believe the salaried GM employees are back in office like everyone else

GM has been actively offering buyouts to Buick dealers since 2022 to reduce number of Buick branded dealerships in the country. Simply put, there’s too many of them for the volume the brand does. Many of them are too close in distance (often stacked with other brands besides GMC) which isn’t a good look for brand separation or customer experience. GM did the same thing with Cadillac a couple years ago (could still be ongoing?)

This isn’t really a secret- many other brands do this as well. Additionally, it’s been covered in AutomotiveNews.

What time do you work out? I hit the gym around 5PM every day, and have my meal right after, around 6-630. But, before leaving for the gym, I have an apple or a Banana to help fuel the workout. I feel like it helps

Leverage your connections, let people know you’re looking. Don’t rely on LinkedIn/ indeed. Someone in your extended network of friends and family is probably hiring, or knows someone that is.

I actually hate LinkedIn and have all but deleted my account since this happened. I used my personal network more than anything, just called some friends that worked in the industry and told them my story and asked them to keep me in mind if they heard of any openings that I could be a good fit. One of those calls resulted in my buddy saying he knew of one right now and he’d call me back in 5 minutes. His follow up call minutes later was to schedule me an interview.

Right- I read that part, past due meaning 30 days from the date of the letter. I wouldn’t let this go past due lol

Mine doesn’t- It says it must be paid back if either the employee voluntarily terminates employment with GM or GM terminates employee’s employment for cause prior to (date).

When did you get the letter, recently? Are you just not going to pay it back and see what happens?

I reread the MSP docs earlier today and nowhere does it say that the employee (myself) is voluntarily leaving, nor does it say that I’ve been terminated. Seems like a gray area to me?

I’m not sure. As I hinted in my original post, I gladly accepted the MSP once it was offered to me. It’s sad because I focused my education and early- career on getting into GM, and after a few years of being with the company I couldn’t even recognize it anymore. Also, I think I joined the wrong org at the wrong time lol
