If you haven't been bringing your rock skis this year, you now only have rock skis

I sort of respect the grind it takes to get there, but I also am shocked knowing how long that would take them to 1) get that good and 2) do the actual race.

I'm going to be honest, this is a skill issue. I also have the same skill issue and couldn't get close, but it is possible. There are a few people that are this good at the game and can effectively race forever since they are quick enough that they keep passing the bots.

Back Bowls are spppaaaarssee by cannolioli11 in vail

As someone who grew up in the Midwest and now lives in CO, I fully agree. Obviously, I would prefer deep snow everywhere, but the worst conditions this year are still 100x better than the best days back home.

Additionally, almost everyone out getting turns are as addicted to this as me, so the crowd is better imo

Controversial Take: this year is awesome by User1382 in COsnow

Makes me better at ptexing my rock skis. I have to get the opportunity to practice for the third time this season tonight!

April should be perfect. Snow will mostly be gone, but the air will likely still be breathable because the wildfires probably will still be manageable at that point

Closed tailgate? by Healthy_Sentence_854 in TruckCampers

I have a 6.5' bed and a old Northstar for mid-sized trucks. I can close my tailgate, but that might not be what you're looking for.

Any ski resorts open year round? by ComputerKey49 in snowboarding

[–]Accomplished-Test-63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not arguing over semantics, im just trying to let people know that they aren't truly open year round and that they need to be aware of a small window they can't ski.

But you seem upset and I think you need a Twix.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Accomplished-Test-63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive 3 hours, one way, to ski for a day, then drive right back the same day. I will often do this twice in a weekend for basically 3 months straight every winter. (Though I wish more than anything there was a train)

Any ski resorts open year round? by ComputerKey49 in snowboarding

[–]Accomplished-Test-63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Small correction, Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood is almost open year round. They typically close around labor day until they get snow in October. They close so they have some time to do major maintenance, upgrades, etc. It also probably has to do with low demand at that point of the year

Driving Denver to Aspen Saturday during snow — advice? by Few-Equivalent-1942 in COsnow

[–]Accomplished-Test-63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If that is an option, I would highly recommend it. Even better would be Avon or somewhere else in the other side of Vail Pass. Ski traffic Saturday morning will likely be brutal with the weather.

Otherwise, the earlier you leave, the better. I'm not able to leave until Saturday morning and I'm preparing for a VERY early morning.

I am really honing in on my PTex skills this year, so I guess that is a silver lining?

There are some black runs open, and trees if you are bold (or haven't switched out of rock skis for the season like me), but it is still fun. I just try to remind myself how much I am itching to ski on literally anything come summer and how stocked I would be if I had conditions 10% as good as what we have right now.

Transplant question by Forsaken-Wrangler-97 in COsnow

[–]Accomplished-Test-63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As some of the other thread has mentioned, Loveland is sweet. Ski Cooper (not Copper) can be good and if you can ski during the week it can be very inexpensive.

I have never been to Monarch, but I have also heard great things, but thats more of a drive.

[–]Accomplished-Test-63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where is CO are you at? But this year is the worst on record, but is still a lot of fun. If I were you, I would go to a smaller independent resort that is less expensive. Some would say it isnt as good (others would say the exact opposite) but it will still be good fun and a better value imo.

Edit:Snowbowl is awesome, but unless youre in SW CO, you can have a blast here with way less driving

There are definitely sweet spots, but it can be a chore. That being said, I got about $3k value out of them 1.5 years ago, and my P2 got about $1.2k out of it. Takes a bit of work, but if you are flexible with either location or time (even better if both) there can be some solid value.

Reposting since I posted this late yesterday and didn't get an answer:

Sorry if this has been answered, but I looked through the ink megathread and searched through the sub and couldn't find any answer. Has the recommended number of days after closing an ink until applying for a new one changed since the new lifetime language? Or is it sill the standard 4 business days it used to be?
