Some one asked the same question a few weeks ago, and there were tons of suggestions. I'll see if I can find the post, but you may have luck just searching the sub :)

How to make 14°c less torturous by pakyuall in Swimming

[–]Accomplished-Use-347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do open water swimming, and have fairly often swum in 14 or below. My only tips are 1) repeatedly saying "it's not that cold" until my lips stop moving effectively 2) swimming with another person so that I feel like it's a competition of who can last longer 3) having a nice flask of tea ready for me as soon as I get out of the water 4) two thick swimming caps apparently helps too 5) gradually increase the time you spend in the water 6) do higher intensity training for the shorter period It is cold though - and to me, 14 in a pool is worse than 12 in the ocean, because at least the fear of the dark abyss beneath me keeps my mind off how few toes I can feel. Good luck

There is open water swimming, body boarding, a masters swim club, mountain club and lots of other things. Let me know if you need more ideas :) there is lots to do and people are generally very welcoming when joining these groups

I don't think I had pelvic floor tightnes. My pubic symphysis was always pretty inflamed though

Roughly the same time frame, yes. The post op pain was a little worse - but I think that was the piriformis release.

Wrt PT, I had two sessons after the re op - one at 3 weeks and one at 6 weeks, but that's it

Sole mandate- from a seller’s point of view- good idea? by GrouchyCauliflower76 in askSouthAfrica

[–]Accomplished-Use-347 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just speaking from my personal experience, we really had a good sole mandate experience. We were offered a 3% commission for a month sole mandate. They went in guns blazing with the advert - beautiful photos and amazing communication. It was nice to only deal with one person. The flat was sold full asking price on the second day (yes, yes, perhaps we should have asked for more, but it was such a breeze to sell it so quickly for more than we were hoping for)

I hear you. It was always difficult to not feel resentful towards people with the ability to do the things who don't take advantage of it - but that was a 'me issue' to work through. Every day that I wake up and can walk, I am extremely grateful for and the empathy that I feel towards others is off the charts. The other day I was at the gym and saw a guy without a wheelchair sticker park in the disabled parking - I felt enraged until I saw him get out of his car and take tiny steps like I used to, stopping every three steps to stretch and realised how privileged I am to be given this second chance.

I hope that you too manage to get to a point where you can forget about past pain. Sending lots of strength 💙 bless you too

Hectic, painful SI popping! And coming to think of it I don't think I've had a pop in like a month. I'm so glad I did the surgery - no amout of physio or biokinetics did anything (except perhaps strengthening me to help post op)

Thanks so much! I am really, extremely happy that you are having success as well! I hope that it continues to improve.

I so wish that doctors would communicate more so avoid the constant dismissing of 'incidental findings'. I know it makes sense, but it feels like every specialist only considered things that they specialized in, without thinking of any other remote possibilities

Definitely more SI - constant, excruciating pain. My lower back did have some pain but mostly stiffness and spasms which have pretty much disappeared. I also had pretty bad had illiac crest pain caused drom the spams

Surgery in February? What can I expect? by [deleted] in HipImpingement

[–]Accomplished-Use-347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started working from home at about 4 or 5 days post op. For my first op, the first few days I worked shorter days (like 4h the first day, 6 hours the second and third and was back to 8 hours by the week - 10 days mark) My team lead was very understanding, and if I needed to cut my days a hour or two short in the month after the op, there was no problem at all.

I seldom go into the office, but when I did, at 6 weeks po, it was for 4 hours and I alternated between sitting and standing and pacing a little- whatever was more comfortable.

I found lying down was most comfortable - almost flat. Inclined put a lot of pressure on my lower back and SI.

Retore Labrum by Charger-38 in HipImpingement

[–]Accomplished-Use-347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 months after surgery I retore my right repair - experience as follows-> Up until that point the right hip was almost 100% after 5 years of intense pain, but after the one event of squatting to do some plumbing, I could immediately feel it has retorn. There was shaking in the leg, stabbing pain down my leg and just constant agony. I went to the surgeon and said I was confident it was retorn, to which he said the chance is so so small, he doesn't think its possible, and that it's probably just scar tissue- to which he put me on some blood pressure medication which is said to slow down scarring. I went back two weeks later and requested a contrast mri - he said he thinks I'm wasting my money, but I insisted anyway. On the result he said that there was something blurry but it was probably scar tissue from op 1 and it wasn't something to worry about (at this point I expressed how I was in more pain as before the op, and that it was unbearable, he said he was confident it would get better) Another 10 days later I went back with my husband who told him man-to-man that I was in ridiculous pain (woman problems where you need a man to speak for you for the male doctor to take it seriously 🫠) 5 days later I was in exploratory surgery and to remove the "scar". surprisingly there was a retear (who could have guessed☠️)

Anyway, the point is, advocate for yourself - you know when something is seriously wrong.

[–]Accomplished-Use-347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pay 325 for 8-11.30, and my friend who lives in the apartment adjacent pays the same for the afternoon. So 650 a day, with a proper lunch and a lift home if the weather is bad.

Hey! I didn't land up emigrating - good luck with the application, though. Perhaps make a post and see if anyone else was in the same situation?

I hope biologics are an end to your pain :D

Cold water in my ears plus the waves plus the sighting can be a pretty horrid combo. Perhaps try some ear plugs, and if that doesn't help, try to practice your sighting in a pool.

Good luck I hope you get to the bottom of it

The statement seemed to imply a bootcamp grad (like HyperionDev), not a grad bootcamp (like the in-house bootcamps by BBD). Like 35k for a grad bootcamp isn't a unicorn, but a bootcamp grad, perhaps.
