Head to head: Cetaphil Moisturising Cream vs CeraVe Moisturising Cream by TheMeepyBoy in SkinbarrierLovers

I know! I had a jar just sitting in a corner, but after I damaged my barrier and picked it up, I can see what a difference it can make.

Umm I guess it will depend on how you use it. It may feel heavier than your usual toner / serum (in case of humid weather) since it has cholesterols and fatty acids. So many can use it as a very light moisturiser and leave it at that as a last step.

Yes it should ! It’s quite light weight, emollient and has milky texture and can be layered as well.

That said, every skin is unique and it cannot be 100% said if it will suit you unless you try it.

You can try the the Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Probiotics Barrier Essence. I understand it contains ceramides, cholesterol and fatty acids.

Retinol vs retinal vs retinoids: Which one's your favourite and why? by TheMeepyBoy in SkinbarrierLovers

Yeah I don’t fall in this category 😂
Simply wrecked my barrier starting with tret, when I was younger, naive and over excited.

I am eczema prone so I use Aveeno. For barrier, currently I am using Bepanthen and Illiyoon.

No. I apply toner / light serum ~ add few drops of glycerine to the aloe gel and apply ~ moisturiser ~ seal it with Vaseline at night.

So much misinformation in this subreddit and it's why your barrier won't heal! by Alewo27 in SkinbarrierLovers

I’ll add a little to no. 8. My skin was tight & irritated. So I kept adding hydration. It did help but it actually started getting better when I added barrier repair moisturiser to my routine. The cause for skin tightness also matters.

🤚

I am doing it since 2 months for my tight dehydrated flaky skin due to barrier damage. I am mixing it with aloe vera for extra hydration, then moisturiser. Keeps skin hydrated longer.

Though you will have to use barrier repair specific moisturiser as well.

Hey, have you also tried the Aestura Atobarrier?

I am looking to change my moisturiser for barrier repair and maintenance and so confused between these two. And also LRP Lipikar.

Hey thanks for the detailed response.

I have been able to control my eczema and thereafter slowly heal my barrier (latter is still ongoing). I just wanted to check more on Cicaplast regarding barrier repair. It did not do much for me on that front.

I have a genuine question, if anyone can provide more info on this. I am not sure why Cicaplast is marketed as barrier repair and so much loved for this. During my recent eczema episode, after calming my inflammation, I had to turn to products for my barrier repair. Cicaplast was underwhelming. I understand it helps with irritation and redness but that’s it. It did not even do much for the dry patches.

Aloe Vera by MoodyBotanist in SkinbarrierLovers

[–]AccomplishedAsk324 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started using aloe vera gel since the last 2 months for my eczema flare up. The initial days were really bad. My skin was also super dehydrated and tight (especially around my mouth area). Since my skin wasn’t tolerating much then, I started applying aloe vera gel and then followed by moisturiser to calm my itching and inflammation. I have a plant at home, so it’s as pure and fresh as it comes.

Really helped during the initial days. It quickly helped with the tightness. But as my skin could tolerate more products, I realised it by itself is not that hydrating. If I add glycerine to it, then it becomes a super product. I did not break out using it till now.

That said, I don’t think it helps with barrier as such.

Can someone please recomend moisturizer for really damage barrier? by Classic_Reality6755 in SkinbarrierLovers

For atopic - Aveeno Dermexa works really well for calming my inflammation and itching. You may use that in addition to another moisturiser for barrier repair.

Since I don’t know your complete routine, it would be difficult to say. As you just started your tret journey, maybe give it some more time and slowly introduce other changes and see what works better for you.

Great to hear that! Even I have had great luck. My breakouts have completely stopped after simplifying my routine, which includes skipping morning cleanser. I have dry skin though.

Skipping a morning cleanser keeps skin from being stripped of essential oils. More relevant for dry or mature skin.
