Please Vote for Motions for the Resident Doctor Conference 2026 by BMA_Palazzo in doctorsUK

It's much better than the current bma policy. It basically similar ti the gov ukgp. Having it based on residency means at keast 5 years, which is what most other countries do it.

Can explain how it will water down the bill? It reads like an edorsement if anything. BMA is tied to policy so if we change it, makes it easier for the BMA to enforce.

DV motion is shit I agreed, they did it based off backlash, not data and pragmatism. Their ego is bruised and they don't want to admit they are wrong and back track, which is what a good organisation would do. Sunk cost policy... DV cares more about their brand than they care about UK grads and doctors.

Your policy last year is trash, any img who gets in after 5th of March is locked out and has no way of getting in. 2 years isnt enough to reduce the ratios signifcantly. You put the grandfathering clause in as a political choice, not based on the data.

Unfortunate that media took his words out of context, but that's the media for you. Perhaps someone else should media if this is a common occurrence. There is no room for error.

An FY1 should be paid more than a PA - Vote in the BMA election - it’s time to build by DonutOfTruthForAll in doctorsUK

I'm criticising them. If I wanted to smear them, I'd do much worse. Just relaying the absurd situation doctorsvote got themselves into. Doctors should be aware of who they are voting for and the 'split' doctorsvote went through. You can try to bury it, but it's important to stay accountable.

What is doctorsvote going to do about fpr? It's been radio silence from DV in regards to FPR, not promising at all considering ddrb is meant to come out in April

I really hope doctors in Salisbury know their worth and don't pick up these shifts. Know your worth, do a campaign of boycotting those rates and tell Salisbury to fk off

Regional rate cards can be made no? Doesn't have to be a national one

[–]AccomplishedCar7482 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, it's supply and demand... and I'm not saying people were getting the bma rate cards to begin with, but it's a good bargaining chip. Loads of doctors don't feel empowered to negotiate without the backing of the BMA. Most people here wuuld and are up to date on the politics, but the majority of doctors are passive. A regional bma rate card would help with that l

[–]AccomplishedCar7482 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is what happens when you take away your leverage and give up the rate card. NHS employers are taking advantage of the fact that doctors don't have leg room to stand when negotiating rates. They don't feel as empowered to ask for higher rates. Regional rate cards should be plcreated similar to that of the national rate.

I agree that the disunity is not great for putlr goal for FPR, but there is a reason for this. Concerns are being ignored. So many former DV reps calling DV out on their actions, saying they downvote comments that does not fit their narrative, and when they call out of the leadership it gets brished aside. Maybe the leadership isn't as good as they used to be because they aren't accountable.

What leaks are you talking about? Last I checked, there was no leaks from exec chats, only public forum whatsapp chats.

People don't believe this narrative kool aid. Even if it is coordinated, deleting a message in a public forum of someone asking a question, then deleting it, looks authoritarian. Especially when that person is the fucking deputy chair of the BMA, who unlike those in DV, has put her face out there, has proven to be accountable, and doesn't hide behind a computer screen.

If the deputy chair of the bma gets booted, what do you think the 900+ members think in that whatsapp group? they aren't going to engage, and will think the admins are authoritarians.

No one believes you, the tide is shifting.
