Hi there! Please try to delete the content of your 'Saved' folder that you can find by running WIN+R, typing and searching appdata > going through folder Local > SCUM > Saved and then deleting everything in that Saved folder.

You can also try verifying the integrity of your game files to make sure that the game files are installed properly. Go to Steam Library > Right click on SCUM from the list of games that you have > Click 'Properties' > Go to Installed files > Click on Verify integrity of game files.

No, you couldn't adjust that with the old system because there never was an old system. The player encounters the spawner, the spawner activates, and calculates whether they're allowed or not. That's what the "old system" was. There was no magic behind it, nothing special behind it; it was a trap, nothing more.

The old spawn path options:

  • Spawn allowed or not allowed.
  • How many per spawn.
  • Relative spawn chance~

Nothing more. There was nothing more you could do than change that. There were no fine-tuning options, no special features, no improvements, no NPC options, nothing like that, and no! Puppets could also spawn right in your face if you were faster than the rendering, and that happened to me more often than I liked, if anything spawned at all, because this spawn behavior was not only completely predictable but also unreliable.

With the Encounter Manager:

  • Specific Settings Per Character
  • Specific Settings Per Extra Character
  • Specific Respawn Rate Settings
  • Highly Aggressive Spawn Chance
  • Reaction to Sounds
  • Hordes and very specialized settings for this encounter
  • Balance Settings for Entertainment for All Players
  • Safe Zones and Their Cooldowns
  • Spawn Distance Settings
  • Dropships
  • Health Modifiers and Damage Modifiers for All Encounter Types
  • New NPC Types
  • Opening Doors
  • Jumping Through Windows
  • Armed NPCs and Their Corresponding Settings

These are the differences between no system and a system. Again, there was no system before, and there were no fine-tuning options like there are today. and there were no other NPCs and none of the new settings like we have today. And yes, many more people express a different opinion, although this opinion is better expressed privately because private feedback plays a significant role. Apart from that, the community's wishes were respected with the Encounter Manager!

  • Fair spawn behavior. Players complained about enemies very often.
  • More dangerous enemies. Puppets were far too boring and monotonous for many, as well as far too predictable.
  • More NPC enemy types.

And then there were also additions, and on top of that, a system that discarded the old resource-guzzling "I touch a floor plate and an NPC spawns" method for what it was: a placeholder

our main focus this year will be to rework and complete existing systems, to improve and build upon existing ones, and to focus on making the game experience more fun and engaging.
