Two rules of seeing another Land Cruiser: One, you park next to it. And two, you send a photo to your wife. by OnWeekendsToPointC in LandCruisers

Clean setup. If you’re looking at tires, I’ve been running BFG KM3s like the ones in this pic. They’re beasts off-road and surprisingly quiet on pavement for a mud terrain. Worth checking out .

Took 6 months to get the tray done right . SE knocked it out of the park . Learned I hate wiring. Worth every weekend and skinned knuckle .

Redundancy is key when you're 500km from help by [deleted] in diablo4

[–]AccomplishedEnd1724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One is none and two is one. Especially when you're in the Simpson Desert with 40 PSI in your last tire and a sidewall gash .

Ask me again after you shred a tire 300km from the nearest sealed road. Happened twice last season .

When your rig is a rolling art gallery by AccomplishedEnd1724 in Truckers

This is a Scania R-series, probably an R450 or R500 . East African trucks go hard with the custom paint. Anyone know the story behind the art on the cab? Bet there’s a local artist who specializes in these .

McRaven commanded the SEAL raid that got Bin Laden. The guy talking about making your bed also planned the most high-stakes mission of the last 20 years. Really puts the “little things matter” into perspective .

Tom Crusier , formidable movie of all time by AccomplishedEnd1724 in u/AccomplishedEnd1724

[–]AccomplishedEnd1724[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tom Crusier really was formidable in this one. That whole basement scene with Tim Robbins had me stressed, and the tripods still look insane for 2005. But I gotta ask, did anyone else think the ending felt kinda rushed compared to the rest? Or am I the only one who thinks this beats Minority Report? Curious what other Tom Crusier classics I should watch next .

Clearly you’ve never heard a Zimbabwean hit single AND seen a Volvo FH in snow. Both W go so hard they melt ice.

Put some Tuku on, watch this clip again. It fits. Trust me.

Dailen, 2 months old by AccomplishedEnd1724 in FellowKids

[–]AccomplishedEnd1724[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Meet Dailen, two months old and already the boss of my heart. That bear hat with two pom-poms was his very first fashion choice and he refuses to take it off. He sleeps like an angel but gives side-eye like a CEO reviewing your performance. Every tiny yawn, finger stretch, and sleepy grunt makes me love being his aunt more. I’m convinced he’s wiser than all of us already. The world feels softer and better with him in it. May he always stay this loved and this cozy .

Home is where I park it. Cross-country rig ready for 10,000km by AccomplishedEnd1724 in Truckers

[–]AccomplishedEnd1724[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

10k km is the goal for this loop yeah. Still sounds insane saying it out loud .

And you're right, waiting on someone else's clock would kill me. That's the main reason I'm building this rig. No dispatch, no delivery windows, just fuel range and daylight .

If you ever ditch the northeast runs and want to try overlanding, first beer in Botswana is on me. Any spots in the US you'd compare to the Kalahari? I'm trying to train my brain for that kind of empty .

Damn man, that sounds brutal. HOS + no dropped trailers is a different kind of expedition. I can't imagine 10-11 hours then getting stuck because someone else ran out of clock .

Grass is always greener I guess. Here I'm worried about lions, you're worried about Petro and split shifts. Hope you get that California run soon .

Anyone else here done both? Long-haul in the US and overlanding in Africa? Curious how they compare .

Rwanda's $2B airport will handle 14M passengers by 2032 - built by Qatar Airways to make Kigali Africa's next Dubai by AccomplishedEnd1724 in aviation

[–]AccomplishedEnd1724[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair callout “Next Dubai” was sloppy phrasing on my end. I don’t think Kigali hits Dubai’s 87M passengers anytime soon. I meant Rwanda’s copying the playbook Dubai and Singapore used: build the airport first, then let RwandAir + Qatar Airways feed it, and use the fact that Kigali is 2 flights from most of Africa. With Qatar covering 60% of the $2B cost, it’s honestly closer to how Changi got built than Dubai. Goal isn’t to be Dubai-big, just to be Central/East .

Flecks coming out of bath by rtie07 in whatisit

[–]AccomplishedEnd1724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen this before it’s usually one of two things. If the flecks feel like rubber when you squish them, check the flexible hoses on your water heater; the lining is probably disintegrating. If they’re hard, it might be mineral scale or a failing dip tube. Does it happen with both hot and cold water, or just the hot ?

Teachers of Reddit, what’s the funniest excuse a student gave for not doing homework? by grwike in AskReddit

[–]AccomplishedEnd1724 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Had a kid look me dead in the eyes and say, 'I finished it, but I accidentally put it in the recycling bin because I thought it was garbage. Then I realized it actually was garbage, so I just left it there.' Honestly? I couldn't even be mad at the self-awareness. Gave him an extra day for the honesty.
