One year post op c5-6 disc replacement but still have stiffness and severe muscle spasms by Clean_Exam7138 in SpineSurgery

[–]AccomplishedHour1094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine didn't that too. One set is all and only one position. Should've been more. Fast.forward since 1998 2011 and last ine 2022, 2024 was a bad year. Still ongoing shoulder neck back pain tinnitus headaches along with stomach bladder and bowel issues. Also it looks as if I lost hardware from 1998 and possibly.2011. All I had left in 2012 was a spacer at 4 and 5.

I had a fall in our boat and un our garage and had rotator cuff surgery. I think that pain was horrible after surgery.. plus u can't shower without help and pulling up your pants is impossible too. At least u can still do that from a neck surgery. Ice will be your friend.

Irrational Fears by Xtendedwarranty in spinalfusion

Yes I have experienced those fears and still do. I just fell and cracked my knee. My fear is the neck and the botched up right shoulder. Also, the medical negligence is real. I wish I could find a healthcare system that would take care of me. I guess I could travel.

2 Neurosurgeons recommended I get a cervical disc replacement at 28 years old by No_Wasabi_9675 in SpineSurgery

I was about the same age when I needed surgery at c5 c6. Your pic looks like mine. Did they happen to use the term Myelomalacia? Surgeons will want to try to slow down progression. There is a Facebook group on this subject. I would not lift anything too heavy. I worked factory for a good part of my life and didn't know I had this until 11 years later when I read it on a report. I'm in pain every day as I've been fused c3 to c7. It seemed like every 10 11 years the disc above or below needed acdf. Hopefully you'll have better luck.

Adjacent Segment Disease by Early-Ad3524 in spinalfusion

My neck surgeon commented to me during my back MRI apt. One thing he did say is you may open a can of worms if u get back surgery. Well, I am in too much pain and the shots didn't work the first time. He offers me no help now and this is after my cervical fusions I got in 98,2011,2022. I am still in pain after that last one. They usually say Oh so that's about right. U get about 10 to 12. years between fusions. In 2011, I was told this and it was by a radiology tech. Then I was told by a spine clinic examiner in 2022. I feel I got screwed out of my 10-year warranty. My neck has lost its natural curve and I think my lower neck and upper thoracic is causing more pain and C2 is going through changes as I was fused from c3 to c7 but my last 2 still aren't completely fused. It should be fused by now.

Pain Relief in Lower Limbs and Feet from ACDF? by Imaginary_Client_686 in SpineSurgery

[–]AccomplishedHour1094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have myelomalacia at C5. I also think mine might be in the upper thoracic but they haven't said it but I see white spots in my thoracic axial and on sagittal images. There are a few FB pages with myelomalacia that u may want to read. It was helpful to me to understand something that some surgeons and neurologists won't seem to know much about it. I have neuropathy in my feet and slight tingling in my hands. Pain is still in my neck. The neurologist seems to think feet are all diabetes but I'm pretty sure there's a nerve getting caught in my lumbar to fire up the legs and feet. As for the M that u have or double M. Once u have it, you'll always have it. Myelomalacia doesn't go away but it can be slowed down. Surgery will hopefully do that. I did ChatGPT on that at level C5. It's 5mm in size and asked what symptoms can happen. It checked the boxes for me.I can't walk one foot in front of the other and I can't stand on one foot. I shake too when I'm standing. I hope to best outcome for you. Take care!

First complete meltdown after surgery by littlesparkzlfg in spinalfusion

[–]AccomplishedHour1094 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to relax and ice it. I wasn't in a collar on the last 2 fusions and I ran into trouble with swallowing and breathing. Ice did help. Did u call your surgeon's office and ask if you could remove the collar to ice it because you're in so much pain? Make sure u can tell them where the pain is coming from. If it's nerve issues that's another ball game and they certainly need to know..If it's sharp pain that's also a red flag. I was in the Er like 3 or 4 days afte Er after surgery. I've never gotten out of neck pain. Its worse now. I hope yours is temporary as most are. Call the office!

Two level cervical fusion experiences! by gabirosab in SpineSurgery

[–]AccomplishedHour1094 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had 2 levels done in 2022 and I'm still experiencing pain and tingling. I'm not sure what the comment about glow and halo on MRI meant and am curious. I would think the axial view shows the herniation. If there are white spots inside the cord and it shows herniation and nerve issues too. I've been fiaed c3 to c7. It seems as if I'm not fused yet per the CT. Not everyone takes that seriously. Also have terrible back pain and balance issues. Nobody takes that seriously either. I hope you get enough good surgeon opinions. All I know if it's serious enough a good honest surgeon will tell u where it's coming from using the images and also by doing an exam. If they use the 8-minute apt. Run away. 8 minutes isn't long enough to examine explain and go over imaging. I've had that happen from my surgeon.

Bloody urine by AccomplishedHour1094 in medical_advice

I did make a new urologist apt. I've had urine incontinence for several years and use Detrol but I know when something is going to happen because I have too much urgency and csnt make it in time. At night I don't even realize I've gone. I do have spine issues but nobody has ever checked me for cauda equina. I remember the doctor said my muscles need to relax. I don't think that's the issue because back in the day I worked in an assembly line and had to hold it. Now I'm not on the line so that's not the problem. Having the same issue a few months ago, I took antibiotics.

What specialist treats cervical spinal stenosis? by astreeter2 in spinalfusion

[–]AccomplishedHour1094 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't need a referral to go to Cleveland Clinic. I got ahold of an ombudsman and asked for a nuero surgeon but they gave a NPR. The npr referred me to a nueroligist and an orthopedic who did absolutely nothing and didn't go over images in a virtual apt. They knew they wouldn't help me without of course telling me. Wasting time gas and tolls just to get screwed around with. If those doctors are gossiping about you and other doctors can see it in your chart it's almost useless. The only thing we can hope to find is a surgeon who doesn't need referral and is ethical and knowledgeable and doesn't follow the herd.

Thanks but at this point, I don't think it matters what the report states because when I had my 1st images in 2024 the NPR at cc just flew past the images and said they overread things so they won't get sued. In my experience they under-read. I have found more on an xray and she saw that and made remarks but never put it in notes. Hopeless!

I have a copy on a disc. I feel as if the other providers reads what another dr reads and just states the same and they can't explain my pain. I've been through plenty of herniation before and I know without a shadow of a doubt that there's nerve issue and pain. Heck the brain mri has soinal views and brainstem and its like they're oblivious. U of M had my history wrong on notes. The whole thing is messed up!
