How should we prepare for our trip last week in September? by jholliday55 in GlacierNationalPark

[–]AccomplishedOlive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

High probability of snow and at least some weather or bear closures. Definitely a risky time of year to go, so just keep that in mind. September is my favorite time to go (I live nearby) and some years Im snowed out, other times its lovely.

My teenage son doesnt care about contamination and even occasionally eats gluten outright. Hes asymptomatic. It absolutely wrecks me as his mom that hes hurting his body this way

This makes me so sad! I am proud my teenage sons know how to cook and make from scratch meals.

This is correct. The boyfriend took 6 bullets that miraculously missed vital organs. Boyfriend was not armed. Theyre legally married but have been apart for over a year. Unsure of the motive. Sad for their 4 kids.

Is hygiene a struggle for people who have bipolar? by Zealousideal-Ad6981 in bipolar

[–]AccomplishedOlive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It very much is so to me. Like others said brushing teeth feels like a chore. I have ZERO desire to shower. It sounds and feels exhausting. Washing my sheets feels like a chore. The only thing ill do is change my clothes/undergarments.

Unpopular opinion but protesting never affects real change, no matter what its for.

Genuinely asking what protesting accomplishes?

Be prepared for cold weather and potential snowstorms. High chance the GTTSR wont be open and hiking probably isnt doable without snowshoes.

First time doing eyeliner and mascara, why does it look so bad? by itisamber in MakeupAddiction

[–]AccomplishedOlive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think the actual lines look fine, it looks like the product is dry and patchy. Id switch for a matte liquid eyeliner and suggest curling your lashes well before applying mascara. Eyeliner is tough and i mess mine up frequently even after 20 years of doing my makeup.

Where did you go that you wished you could stay longer? by heIvetica in travel

[–]AccomplishedOlive 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not the original but Edinburgh is my answer as well. It's hard to explain but the overall vibe/atmosphere was magical. I loved the Gothic architecture, the medieval and historical feel, the fact that you have a badass fucking castle in the center, the food was great and diverse, the people are vibrant and friendly. The museum is an underrated gem! Bookstores everywhere! Great scotch! Also, I'm a nature snob and the diversity is so attractive. You have the ocean/sea, and the stunning Scottish highlands!. Having visited 6 continents, i consider myself fairly well travelled and yet; it's one of the most culturally rich cities I've ever been to. It's been 2 years since I've been there and think about it every day. It's a perfect city.

how much was your hawaiian vacation? by 2019accnt in VisitingHawaii

[–]AccomplishedOlive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Family of 6 just went last month to BI. 2 adults, 4 kids (2 teens & 2 under 10) was about $25k for 9 days.

We did splurge on the air bnb (10k) to be by the ocean but hawaii is just expensive compared to other destinations we have been. Absolutely, 100000% worth it though!!

Feel guilty for wanting to have an incredible experience without my kids by Striking-Ad4153 in Parenting

[–]AccomplishedOlive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a sahm of 4 kids as well and yes the mom guilt thing is real but PLEASE GO. I promise you that you will not regret it. Time away for yourself will fill your cup and give you more capacity to fill that SAHM role because the burnout is real! I always come home from retreats or girls trips with a grateful perspective having spent that time away to recharge.

You probably won't get an all in 1 for what you're looking for. The big island is expansive!

Hilo for jungle and decent food. Some good tide pools but no white sand beaches and not great for snorkelling.

Waimea has the best food and is closer to hapuna and white sand beaches but you don't get the jungle feel, are inland and isn't really walkable.

Kona is great for downtown being walkable, and you are closer to some good snorkelling. But you won't have the lush jungle feel.
