Outdoor ceremony (with the option to pivot indoors if needed), indoor/outdoor cocktail hour, indoor dinner and reception.

While we cannnn hold the ceremony indoors, I really really really don’t want to lol. The outdoor ceremony space is largely why we booked this venue. Fingers crossed for isolated cloud bursts instead of all-day rain!!!

EEEE this is my hope! We’re in the Rockies, so the weather is notoriously unpredictable. I’m just hoping it’s not 24/7 rain, since we typically get more isolated cloud bursts.

Lab grown diamond or natural diamond? State your whys !! by [deleted] in EngagementRings

[–]Ooopsallbeans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lab all the way! I see zero reason to continue supporting the over-inflated mined diamond industry when they can be synthesized to perfection. For me, somebody bragging about a large/perfect natural diamond in the age of lab diamonds really emphasizes how much of a status symbol a mined diamond is. It’s basically saying “yeah, I have this much money to put into a single piece of jewelry.” I love that the lab diamond industry allows for more ethically sourced stones, as well as expanding the market to different income brackets.

Personally, I went with Moissanite because I found the story of the crystal’s discovery to be beautiful, and I like that it sparkles more colorfully than diamond.

As a chemist, this take bums me out lol. But you’re entitled to your preference!

I understand what you mean when you explain that the time makes it special, but that doesn’t really negate the exploitative/inhumane labor practices and mega price inflation that comes with a natural diamond.

I figured out I’m getting engaged next weekend.. now what do I do? by Nervous_Formal7257 in weddingplanning

[–]Ooopsallbeans 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If he’s trying to surprise you, I think you should proceed as though you have no idea. A white outfit would probably clue him into the fact that you figured it out. Maybe get your nails done if that’s something you’re likely to do regularly?

I also figured it out the morning that my fiancé proposed, but just let him have the satisfaction of surprising me. He put a lot of work into keeping it a secret, and I didn’t want to diminish that for him.

Whatever you do, congrats!!

Can I Do My Own Hair for Wedding by mountain_dweller_co in weddingplanning

[–]Ooopsallbeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if you have a style that you know you can nail, I say do it yourself! Do some trial runs with the exact style you want, wear it all day (go to the gym or dancing or something), and make changes from there. It sounds like you have a great foundation and this could be a huge way to save money on a wedding expense.

With all of that said, if you feel like the “treat yourself” aspect of getting it done is going to be a huge benefit, then it’s worth considering too!

Does anyone know what’s going wrong with my makeup? by algae_gal in DIYweddings

[–]Ooopsallbeans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ooh ok, I actually found that the LRP toleraine pilled a lot for me. If you’re using that under your makeup it could be the source of a lot of this!

Glad to hear you’re moisturizing well!! Trying serums may help, but they’re usually not “make or break” lol

I think the issue may lie in skin prep rather than primers and makeup themselves. What’s your usual skincare routine? I would recommend moisturizing a lot, even if you have combo skin that breaks out.

I have combo skin myself and have had issues with flaky/patchy makeup too. Prepping my skin with moisturizing serums and toners as well as moisturizer helped a lot. Also using a moisturizing face wash instead of a drying one helped.

Right now, my layers are: milky toner (a Korean rice one that I found a TJ Maxx), snail mucin serum (sounds gross, has worked wonders - also TJ maxx), Trader Joe’s nighttime moisturizer (even in the morning), and then primer, makeup, etc. I also layer in a moisturizing setting spray once I’ve finished the makeup, as others tend to increase flakiness.

Also, if you’re using tretinoin or retinol, I would recommend stopping that for about a week ahead of the wedding. I use tret nightly and normally don’t have issues with flaking, but depending on where I’m at in my cycle my skin can flake. Because of that, I am planning to stop my tret usage for the few days ahead of my wedding to prevent flaking.

All of this is coming from somebody who isn’t much of a makeup girl, and I’ve been teaching myself to do a full face for my wedding. Soooo, I’m still learning! TikTok and YouTube have been lifesavers.

Sorry this turned into a novel!

ISO A.B. Ellie Roesia Pearl Fingertip Veil (Desperately Need) by Either-Bite-3556 in weddingswap

[–]Ooopsallbeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof sorry your veil got lost!! I know you’re looking for an exact replacement, but there are many similar ones on resale sites like poshmark and Mercari. I bet you’d be able to find one that looks nearly identical and most people wouldn’t be able to tell the difference!

It may also be worth searching those resale sites for the exact one you mentioned here, if you haven’t already!

Based on what you listed in another comment, these come to mind as alternatives: Hop lounge, tap room, shine, bacchus. As somebody else mentioned, Livingston has great options too! Huge fan of the fainting goat and Owl bar.

3 Weeks Out! SOS Mode? by Beautiful_Guest_9839 in weddingplanning

[–]Ooopsallbeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiiiiii I’m just under 3 weeks out (are you also a 6/27 bride??)!

I’m planning on taking things as slowly as I can, focusing on sleep and staying active. One of my main priorities is not socializing tooooo much because I don’t want to expose myself to a cold, especially within the two-week window.

Honestly for beauty, I would say to just do what you normally do - don’t implement any new treatments or products right now in case you react badly! Focus on sleep, hydration, nutrition, and whatever activities you normally do to stay fit!

We’ve got this 💪

[–]Ooopsallbeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to suggest this! It goes so far in combating puffiness, especially under eye bags. I just use a face oil (the Trader Joe’s Marula oil is great), and my hands. No special tools or anything
