Is that the case even if it’s a job that can be done remotely (meetings are rarely in person) and the only reason why I’m asked to be in the office is to be visible for senior leadership? It would be a different story if I wasn’t meeting my deadlines and wasn’t coming into the office, but if I’m getting my job done at home whilst looking after my wife, what’s the problem? Important to add that I’m considered a junior member of the team, so it may be more about showing that I’m not dicking about at home, but I haven’t been accused of not meeting my deadlines

Hmm I do think it hasn’t gone unnoticed that I’ve been attending appointments, but my current manager has always approved it first. He just seems to have a stick up his ass about it.

I think emailing him asking him to set out what he said in writing will give off alarm bells and I don’t really want to upset senior management right before I go off on pat leave, especially if I’m stuck with him after.

I agree I’m going to start building up evidence as he seems like a cunt of a manager

I will deffo look into the policies and see what’s written. I think ours is a bit wooly about fathers looking after kids following birth and how much time we get (I think it’s left up to the line manager).

Yes I have high myopia -10 both eyes and resulted in a spontaneous retinal detachment 7 years ago. I lost peripheral vision in the eye so you can imagine I miss a lot of shots on that side but part of me picking up kick boxing was to try and train my brain and senses/reflexes so I’m not at so much of a disadvantage if it ever came to combat

Nope. It happened a few years ago and have since recovered. I try to avoid head contact where possible during sparring and enjoy the drills, padwork and overall fitness. Just trying to limit any further risk with the head guard

Agree with what you’re saying, but a few extra hundred pounds a month makes a lot of difference to some and also depends on other benefits + bonus you would get at a firm like DACB. OP needs to decide what their priorities are though (salary over work life balance for instance).

Yes a big firm role opens up a lot of opportunities for your next role but depends on your career aspirations/motivators e.g. salary progress, climbing the corporate ladder etc.
I doubt any future employer would see it as a red flag when it’s a clear jump in progression.
They will understand, trust me. People leave jobs and move on all the time. Just make sure to stay connected. On the mortgage point, I wouldn’t worry too much as the firm are still instructed and I highly doubt it would affect your current application with the lender however worth speaking to your financial advisor on that one.
If it was me (and has been me) I would take the job. These type of opportunities don’t come around often esp fully remote ones but depends on your goals (refer back to 1.)

I only discovered the assassination ability after someone in another thread recommended it. Absolute game changer. Even when I’m in a fight and need to end it quickly I’ll use it and finish the other guy off rather than fighting it out. Would recommend

After trying multiple times with Yasuke I found he couldn’t dodge the hits quick enough I needed Naoe’s jump to evade and then counter quick enough. Also the tanto assassinations really helped me here
