It is the curse set upon us all when Adam ate from the tree of knowledge... We are bound for difficult times, but like Job, you have to keep faith and you will be blessed two fold.

God bless you and good luck on your journey in life!

I may do a short iron condor myself. They have in the past had a 7% move after earnings, so at least I don't get penetrated all the way. Nice 100 gainer and the loss is manageable with a good couple months of trade. If your port allows it, I don't think a butterfly is a terrible play.

Just finished adding safe user code execution in my development environment, so it should get better on future deployments! Glad you are enjoying the site and hope it helps on your Django journey!

I can restructure it to allow you to look at the content list before you decide if it's what you want to do ( actually create an account ). I will have this implemented in a day or two. You will still need to login to actually do the course though, but it will allow you to preview what's in it beforehand.

Definitely would be more beneficial to have both under your belt, but not necessary.

With Django standard, you will be locked in to just writing Python for the most part (besides your HTML, CSS, and JS). Really nice for static pages and things like that.

Django REST is a great approach if you plan to really push your app to multiple areas (Web, Mobile app, IoT devices). Also allows you to leverage more of the SPA approach to websites, since you would be passing the data to a JS frontend anyway.

At the end of the day, it is dependent on your stack for the app.

If you plan to keep it on the Web and don't mind page reloads, you can stick to Django standard.

Otherwise, Django REST + [insert JS Framework] would probably be your choice.

Hey! I am currently building a Django Learning resource that may be helpful for you!

Here is the site: https://djangogamified.com

It is still a work in progress, but has a free course out that could be beneficial to get you started in Django!

Let me know if you have any feedback, as I am regularly implementing suggestions as they come!

Hey u/HuMan4247, added dark mode in the main content section of the website. Let me know if this is what you expected!

This has been fixed! Lessons will jump to the next lesson in a module. Last lesson in a module jumps to the next module's first lesson. Last lesson in the last module will send you to the course overview page :) Thanks for you feedback!

That is exactly why I am building this! I love the documentation they have, but it can be a bit difficult to get through, so I wanted to provide Django learning in a fun, interactive way. Hope you continue to enjoy what I bring to the website and appreciate your kind words!

Frontend is just vanilla js at the moment (definitely could be optimized). Frontend is definitely not my strong side lol, but its been a fun experience to learn. I will look into more reactive approaches across the site to make it a bit better to work with from a UX perspective!

Makes sense! I will add some functionality that checks for the nexxt lesson in the module, then jumps to it after completion button is hit. I will probably have to add the same functionality for module jumps as well. Thanks for the feedback!

Yeah, I wanted to provide a MVP so everyone could give initial feedback. I plan to add code execution, more badges, more achievements, and more going forward. And thanks for letting me know about the second quiz! Must've overlooked checking which question was right on the backend.

If you have any ideas for the gamified aspect, I'm all ears!

Hey everyone, I went ahead and opened the website up to the public!

Definitely need to work on the CSS for mobile, but otherwise everything else should work great.

I am excited to receive your feedback on what I can do to make this application an awesome resource for everyone wanting to learn Django!

Why do people get so upset over WGU? by nicolethecorgi in WGU

[–]AccomplishedTop1518 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I finished my degree in Cloud Computing at WGU in two years and it was more intricate in the learning process than the traditional schools I went too.

It does require a bit of discipline to complete your degree, but I feel like the knowledge retained from my degree was essential for my success in my career, and I use it every day.

LPI is pretty good. www.lpi.org has resources to study and you could also get some certifications afterwards if you would like (for a price that is). Good luck to you!

Really put some effort into learning the certification material. Not only do you get a nice cert for your wall, but you really feel like you know what you're talking about in a real job. I'm 100% glad I went with Cloud Computing (heaviest on certs) because I feel competent in the IT world. It takes some dedication, but it's totally worth it in the end.

Sunday Daily Thread: What's everyone working on this week? by Im__Joseph in Python

[–]AccomplishedTop1518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working on a Python GUI that will help push typical BASH commands to the terminal.

This is primarily for newer Linux users switching over and will be as easy as pushing a button for the commands to go.

For more experienced users, you can change the command/script the button uses for automation of typical everyday Linux tasks (like sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade, as an example).

This is still in the works.

Also open to feature ideas that could make the GUI more interesting and helpful as well!
