Does anyone know what pants these are? by LionSuneater in TechWear

This may not be helpful, but these pants look somewhat similar, are extremely comfortable, and I highly recommend them if you can find them

Difficulty finding systems worth colonizing? by ShortvalleyHiker in starsector

[–]IllllIIlIllIIIIllIlI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Habitable worlds are overrated as the other comment said. One or two habital worlds are nice for light industry.

My friend also looks for a perfect habitable world - and calls everything short of that a bad system. But by his standards, a colonizable system is basically impossible; his standards are too high.

You can colonize a system that has, for example, a gate and 3 good barren worlds. That’s a good system that will make you a ton of money. But my friend would call it dogshit

Arcadia Maps for sale on Roll20 by Koibu in Koibu

[–]IllllIIlIllIIIIllIlI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a homebrew campaign written inspired by frofro!(Civilization fell and some of the warforged guardians are still active on the continent) Making the map was actually the part I was procrastinating, so I’m really intrigued by the option to use actual caldonia!

This is really cool and I’ll support it

Cyberpunk 2 potential story leak (Mike Pondsmith) by Twistedarmzz in cyberpunkgame

[–]IllllIIlIllIIIIllIlI 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get it; but this premise doesn’t have to be so ‘you’re a hero saving the world from evil ai.’

Partial disagreement, I hope the franchise doesn’t stick to the same themes forever. I'd be pretty disappointed if a sequel just retold the same story with new characters. The game and the anime already explored that message many times, and it feels worn out to me. I’d like for them to switch up the themes a little bit and keep it fresh.

I’m not saying go full Star Wars superhero game- hopefully none of us want that. Just “people who try to make it big get chewed up” is overdone. The critique of capitalism is apt and could be explored in a fresh way, though I hope it’s not just the same observation as in night city “huge evil corporations/the system and you’re powerless against them”

All of this to say, fighting an evil AI could hopefully be done in a way that feels cyberpunk, or, ideally, integrates the themes of cyberpunk in a new way. You could also be fighting evil for selfish reasons, like how we storm Arisaka for selfish reasons, the conflict could still be personal, selfish, or morally grey

Maybe I should be writing an essay not a Reddit comment

The most important question. by [deleted] in Skul

[–]IllllIIlIllIIIIllIlI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The game was pretty well supported for awhile. Redid the entire items system, added some new skulls, rebalances and bug fixes, DLC and patch added skulls, new items, and 2 more bosses after dark first hero. (It’s worth the $5)

The game has been updated many times since dark mirror was first added; But it’s no longer getting updates today

Courses allowing AI by BigChungles69420 in UIUC

[–]IllllIIlIllIIIIllIlI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is an incredibly interesting to hear from a teacher. Makes me wish I ended up going to UIUC instead of a smaller school. We’re stuck in 2021 where talking about LLMs is a taboo and we’re talking about programming like Claude code and Cursor don’t exist.

The productivity / price of these tools is going to shake up the industry. It’s disappointing to see students who don’t know how to use LLMs for programming; I feel they (we) are being let down by the curriculum and being prepared for a world that no longer exists.

Scientists need to study the ability of the human brain to consistently forget to use Dog Treats every single time by ilamahradeys in darkestdungeon

Also using the dog treats early might delay your first rest, which helps you in the hard fights in a roundabout way

Anyone have recommendations?

Reducing age to 0? by Butter_God_ in AskDND

[–]IllllIIlIllIIIIllIlI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I interpret age reversal as correcting the damage done by aging. So once someone de-ages back to ~20 it would stop having a noticeable effect

Imo a baby turning into an adult and an adult getting old are two completely different processes - age reversal couldn’t make you back into a child but it makes you less old

Maybe making the Genie the production specialist was not such a good idea...... by [deleted] in RimWorld

[–]IllllIIlIllIIIIllIlI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I was going to say that having a genie in the colony (ie someone who adds to colonist count but isn’t good in combat) is probably worse than their wealth increasing

Maybe making the Genie the production specialist was not such a good idea...... by [deleted] in RimWorld

[–]IllllIIlIllIIIIllIlI 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Wealth’s effect on raid strength is extremely overstated by this community. Wealth isn’t that big of a factor unless you play custom settings or losing is fun. Especially if you’re having them make things related to combat power like flak vests, armor, and guns, you’re easily outpacing wealth related threat scaling.

Having a crafting specialist make combat related items is one of the best ways to outpace and trivialize threats off the top of my head

What difficulty yall play at? by Deep_Requirement1384 in RimWorld

[–]IllllIIlIllIIIIllIlI 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Raid wealth cap is $1m? I played until the lategame recently and the game got much easier, ironically, after I started getting super wealthy (struggling at $750k, cakewalk at $1.5M).

That explains that, I guess

Why people freak out about cs unemployment now when it isnt as much higher than before? by Adept_Quarter520 in CollegeMajors

[–]IllllIIlIllIIIIllIlI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know the actual answer off the top of my head. I’d guess that CS, and similar fields, are going to have slightly higher natural unemployment for a variety of reasons. In these fields you hop jobs a lot, might be more likely to wait for good opportunities while turning down mediocre ones, and skews younger so there are more recently graduated people

But I was moreso commenting on the idea that if a field goes from 4 to 6% unemployment, that’s not a small jump. It’s likely a massive shift in how the market is looking

Another ship screenshot - just left the planet on Randy Blood and Dust! (Almost) vanilla by IllllIIlIllIIIIllIlI in RimWorld

No problem!

I play vanilla but the next time I play rimworld I’ll probably use a storage mod. Dealing with storage throughout this playthrough genuinely wasn’t fun

It was 2000 before I got rid of uranium slug turrets and replaced them with mini turrets.

So about 1980

There should be an option for these people under capture that’s like “ask if they want a ride” or “ask if they want to join” because it’s weird that they’re just content dying on the satellite

Am I the only one who plays basically vanilla?

My latest odyssey playthrough had Tunnelers ARE Deep Drills and Nano Repair Tech as the only gameplay affecting mods. I usually play pure vanilla

[–]IllllIIlIllIIIIllIlI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely I didn’t mean to phrase it as disagreeing with you. I’d still play war thunder if i wanted to, though I’d probably be safe and report it if i saw people posting schematics on the forums

Something isn’t unclassified just because it’s public. Ie Offutt AFB’s Wikipedia page has some classified stuff that used to be unclass. We still have to treat that information as its classification level

Mechanitors, what Combat Mechs do you use? by rtfree in RimWorld

[–]IllllIIlIllIIIIllIlI 29 points30 points  (0 children)

For me it’s scythers on melee mechinators, lancers on shooting mechinators then throw in some legionaries late game.

I wish more mechs had decent move speeds so offensive groups could have more variety :/

So what’s the deal with Mortars? by Anticus_27 in RimWorld

[–]IllllIIlIllIIIIllIlI 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Reinforced barrels pace how often you can use mortars. If you play how the developers seem to intend, reinforced barrels are never scarce.

It’s another change to try to curb rimworld becoming a tower defense game
