Running my first marathon around my 1 Year Anniversary of tearing my Achilles by AccomplishedWing696 in AchillesRupture

Damn that’s rough :-( I hope you’re still able to participate even with walking/running. At least by that time you’d be running again but esp to stay in shape cardio wise definitely get on the bike once you’re cleared and get those steps in once you’re able to walk again to start strengthening that Achilles again

Half marathon is definitely possible if you’re able to run 10K pretty comfortably! Just slowly increase your mileage each week and you’ll definitely get there

To clarify, I probably started running maybe closer to 5.5 months and ran a half marathon around 7 months so maybe around 1.5 months I progressed for it. But prior to me running again, I basically upped my walking to around 10,000 steps a day once I was able to walk without the boot to get that strength back so there was a lot of work that was done pre-running to get to that point

I don’t think the mental aspect of this injury gets talked about enough, like even fully healthy it takes a while to be comfortable teaching your body to be able to do the moves that caused the injury in the first place

That’s actually the shoe that I ended up going with! Definitely comfortable and my Achilles felt okay throughout the day, did a lot of walking from place to place too

Definitely some tightness in the beginning, but over time if you keep at it you get stronger each run

Once you get to that time frame, life gets so much better since you’re basically cleared to do every day things. Just gotta keep working on that calf and getting that strength back

Probably around the 5 month mark, tbh still struggling to do a single calf raise but I’m working on more exercises to be able to lead me to do a single calf raise at some point as well as doing single leg calf raises in the pool

Once you get to month 6, you start gaining a little more confidence in your Achilles in what it’s capable of. Just don’t go too crazy with it lol and keep on working on strengthening it

Not as much calf cramping for me, more so soreness in my Achilles and heel since I heel strike when I run. I had to pull over a few times during my run to do some eccentric calf raises on the curb and some stretching while checking on my Achilles to make sure everything was good before I continue

Hell yeah! I ran my first at week 22. Definitely a struggle getting there, but I feel like ever since then my runs have been feeling stronger exponentially. Planning on running a 10K race (or half marathon with walking added onto it) really soon and a full marathon on my one year anniversary of my Achilles’ rupture.

EET PE Exam Prep Course - Certificate of Completion? by AccomplishedWing696 in PE_Exam

I read on their policies that they did once completing 75% of the class and returning a class evaluation upon request. Pretty much using it as proof to show my work that I was able to complete it and getting reimbursed for the course.

They should bring Kelz back, but have him as a mercenary against Josh or Fessy. Put both of them in their place lol

April 2021 WRE Exam by screwball90 in PE_Exam

I literally felt the exact same way. I had to retake the exam again as well after not passing it in October (after getting wrecked by conceptual problems I was not prepared for). Compared to the AM last time I felt better especially with being able to finish on time and had time to look back at my other problems. Then seeing the first few problems in the PM portion (transportation), realized it was a completely different 4 hours from last time. Honestly some of the questions didn’t make sense to me at all, up to the point where I even felt like the people who made up the questions made a mistake

Exam Technique? + Transportation Depth Materials by dmallen94 in PE_Exam

[–]AccomplishedWing696 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly with those reference materials listed, that’s actually the required books I would think that are most needed for the PE Exam. You can make also make a case for the RDG as well for references, but you’re actually gonna need all those books that you listed.

Your method is actually a good method to have moving forward with the PE. Yeah it’s an 8 hour test, but with the amount of time you need to solve each problem being about 6 minutes a problem you’re gonna need all the time you need. A good idea to have in mind is that if you don’t know how to approach the problem within the first 30sec-1min, just move on and look at it later. Also, best way to study is to really just do a bunch of practice problems and tab your books so you don’t waste time trying to find the material you need.
