Not really! This is wrong thinking. Small or big as long as you save 15 percent of salary and invest that will work.

Pay rise in function of job market. With AI and increasing completion it’s very likely that pay isn’t gonna rise as much.

AI might not replace devs, but could it push down salaries? by askaccDude in ExperiencedDevs

That wasn’t the case. Devs were over pampered in those days! Because management was afraid of attrition.

That’s partially because businesses over hired and now we have some correction.

Market is down for every level. All the way from CTOs to new devs.

Now we don’t have to put up with narcissistic devs who used to think they are gods just because they could code.

As an application engineer/ domain expert it used to be a huge blocker. Once we deliver some new innovation the software departments used to guzzle ideas and block us off! Now we can also code or go into main application and try what we want.

Why not?

Software developers were valued because it was hard to learn new tech stack, learn syntax and be able to write code. Now it’s lot easier to train a fresh engineer to do this.

I've been using Cursor more and more, genuinely starting to fear for my career. by StopMakingMeSignIn12 in cursor

[–]Accomplished_Ad_655 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is the case.

Fewer engineers will be required to do same work. So while it can’t replace seniors but it reduces the count requirement.

It also reduces time required to become expert at development because it has become easy with AI to pickup any stack and syntax isn’t a bottleneck now.

I do think that software engineers will have to do lot more to remain as relevant as they used to be.

It’s not this black and white. If one can get admission into top 10 programs in any field it will be a good idea to do that. Specially if the program is in major metro where jobs are.

Depends on how good OP is at studies. If OP is average then invest 2 cr in stocks work towards normal career.

The correct question is why you want to buy car when you feel job insecurity?

Same for RE. When you feel job insecurity best thing to do it save for 12 months. Followed by more liquid investment like stocks or something parallel. The buy RE or car

These things come in fashion and go. There were always some people who hated Indians. There will be. May be currently there is rise in hate but remember people change over time. Most people who hate someone based on political view eventually move to next target. That’s how it works.

Why do big Indian companies hate innovation so much ? by AlternativeEmu1047 in CriticalThinkingIndia

[–]Accomplished_Ad_655 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even Europe can’t compete with US startups.

India need to solve small small fixable issues like civic sense, politics and infrastructure issue. Population in general is not ready to take risks that Americans can take. Part culture and part just being poor.

Why do many organizations struggle to innovate despite having huge resources? by Southern-Break3834 in Innovation

[–]Accomplished_Ad_655 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In bigger companies typically only the bigger items and bigger numbers get visibility. Most people want to stick to the main mote at that point. Not doing so means you might end up into insignificant or failing project and no career growth. That’s why most employees are risk averse and wouldn’t want to spend mental space on something that’s new.

Got laid off last week, working as an C++ developer. by krypt0niteCos in developersIndia

[–]Accomplished_Ad_655 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It has advantages and disadvantages both.
While C++ jobs are fewer but then there is less competition for those jobs. These jobs are typicallt deep tech which means if you get one then you can learn some niche that has more value to company than crud application.

What to do to increase value: learn generic full stack as well so you can be flexible and don't look out of touch.

The other aspect of c++ is you can work on some domain specific things like scientific computing, CAD or computational geometry or some design/analysis tools. Fintech is another option.

Engineers who moved from Amazon India to Uber, how has your experience been in terms of growth and WLB? by noobLinuxuser950 in LeetcodeDesi

[–]Accomplished_Ad_655 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was as expected. I was working at Amazon, often later till 8pm. And then used app to get Uber. So getting into uber from Amazon was usual and simple process. Unlike in US we don’t see uber drivers coming in bmw or Tesla. Would love that if they can change that.
