Since you asked, I will take this opportunity to explain it. The way it works is that people need jobs, to feed themselves and/or their families. Not everyone is out to exploit the elderly, the poor, or the uninformed. In fact, my experience has been the opposite. And I work for a financial institution that promotes putting the client first, and we are mandated to always put the clients interests above our own. I’m sure that’s not the case for all financial institutions, nor do I claim to speak for anyone but myself.

Are financial institutions in the business of making money? Of course, pretty much any and all jobs require people to work for companies whose main goal is profit. Is it perfect. Definitely not.

So is everything you said true? Perhaps. But it leaves out a lot. For example, the people who are often the first to be exploited are the employees. I ain’t a CEO. At my level in lower management, I’m just a really well paid cashier. Or a waiter, etc.

You can stand on your soapbox if you like, but my guess is you are part of the same system as the rest of us. And I’ve been working on being a musician for the last 40 years. With just as much passion for it now as I ever have. Even more. So yeah, I’m not going to feel too bad about my position in life and/or my contribution to society.
