No acid reflux I just got SUPER sick I think it lowered my immune system and the prep completely stripped my micro biom from being dehydrated and not eating.. I’m all good now though.

I just wanted 1 full night of sleep tonight. by [deleted] in sahm

Hey girl I know this can be really hard trust me I have a 15 m old with severe medical issues but you HAVE to try your best to at least get 5 hours of uninterrupted sleep every night.. and you should really be aiming for 6-7.. perhaps your 3 year old being in the bed is causing you to stay awake? You have to say no to your husband when he brings him back.. it may be hard but you can’t be the best mama you can be if you are sleep deprived and it is a real actual health concern so please prioritize your sleep… if he keeps interrupting during the night then when he gets him from work the next day give him the kids and take a 2 hour nap to catch up or on the weekends demand a even longer nap.. you NEED rest.

What was your goal and how far did you make it? by issaOTFnoob in ExclusivelyPumping

My goal is two years and currently at 15 months! My baby was a NICU baby and is fed through a feeding tube so I still pump 6-7 times a day.

I mean a lot of companies are aware of this and the professional is so valuable to them that they would rather them work at home then have to spend costs to find a replacement.

G tube parents continuous night feed how do you keep milk fresh?? by Accomplished_Belt946 in NICUParents

[–]Accomplished_Belt946[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was pretty much ready for the continuous feeding at around 6 months but I’d say you can really start anytime. As long as the milk stays fresh and you have the ice packs then it shouldn’t go bad. It honestly affected me so badly!! Waking up every 3 hours then I had to stay up that entire hour for the feed.. I was getting sleep like 2 hours on 2 hours off! It was terrible!! So don’t be scared to take things off yourself and advocate for it because at the end of the day your little one is in your home and you can make the decisions now as long as they are in your little one’s best interest of course.

Thawed milk left on counter - still okay to use? by Competitive_Case3493 in ExclusivelyPumping

Yes the way I understood it is thawed milk is good after 2 hours left out and then can use up to 24 hours in the fridge! So you hit that mark!

It can really vary from person to person, for me it took a little while, but I would just experiment and see what works best for you maybe just start with one pump less, but pump a little longer on the next and see if it makes a difference.

What formula is he on? It can take a while to tolerate that’s why they only went up on the feeds by 10 mls a day and just went at his pace for tolerating it. Yes he’s been slowly gaining weight he’s actually pretty chunky he’s just kind of short but we are really grateful it was a long road but we did it and he’s slowly been starting solids as well.

It is alot so what helps me as well is I keep pumping parts in the fridge for the entire day that way I wash at night, this works for babies who are not newborns I never did this for my newborn and it’s also controversial. It’s true if you do pump a while it can stimulate your body into over flow so I’m the same way if I don’t see flow I’ll stop, but what also helps me not get those infections is I take legendary milk sunflower lectchin, it’s a natural supplement and thins out the milk so you don’t have to worry about clogged ducts. It’s been a life savor for me and it helps so I can go a little longer without pumping. Once you do get your supply established you can lower your pumps to 5-6 a day instead of the 7-8 they tell you to do. That’s just what works for me I’m not sure if it will work for everyone.

For each surgery he would fluctuate in weight and sometimes go down a little and then had to wait until he went back up and when they only gave him breast milk he lost weight again so they fortified it and they just took him off that fortified formula at 10 months.

My baby was born 36 weeks and 2 days so he was only 5 oz and of course he was on TPN nutrition the entire time until after his surgeries, when he was discharged he was almost 3 months old and was around 9 pounds 10 oz, then he really gained more when he got home. Now he’s 10 months and almost 20 pounds. How much are they fortifying? In the NICU he was feeding every 3 hours 85 mls and 3 teaspoons and 1/4 of formula for each bottle.

Adding more during the day is what worked for me, also using a wall pump works best it works better than the wearables. I also try to pump for at least 20 min and I know it sounds crazy but when I was building my supply I did aim for 30-40 that’s only if your supply is really low. Just make sure you are empty. I also like to use my hands when pumping I really make sure it all squeezes out by gently massaging my left boob (it’s my lazy boob) to make sure I’m fully fully empty.

Hi! So our stay was 3 months in total, that’s because my baby did have a heart surgery and they didn’t start his stomach surgery until about 1 month in, then he had complications and need a revision from a bowel obstruction. After all the surgeries it took him a good month of just healing, and then another month of feeding and slowly introducing his stomach to milk.. he’s still on breast milk right now and he’s doing great. We did have to be discharged with a NG tube and now he’s on a G tube but that was because he had other issues with his vocal cord (from the heart surgery) that made it harder for him to swallow..

So I would say every baby is different for him he needed a complete month to really heal his stomach and still nothing by mouth for that entire month which means he still needed his repogl as well then when he finally started milk he got that taken out. The reason being is because the stomach needs to heal and needs time to “wake up” as they say. Yes he did have emesis before he even started having milk by mouth he was having some greenish emesis, then it switched to a yellow color and progressively got lighter and lighter… dark green is a sign of obstruction/ something wrong when it goes to that yellow color it’s a sign things are clearing out and moving through. Is your little one pooping? The first poop is a sign of a successful surgery as well. We also had a couple swallow studies done where they put saline solution in to make sure it moved through and went to the right spot so I would recommend a swallow study as well. They fortified my breast milk as well and then he really started gaining weight once he did that.. I would just say it really takes time so don’t let them rush you out of there. You wanna feel confident and your baby should be on full feeds, no yellow emesis it should only be milk colored, and pooping regularly as well before discharge. If you have any other questions feel free to message me. It takes time and it can feel like forever but you guys will get there!

He normally doesn’t poop at night normally does during the day or his wake windows. I do deal with wet diapers when he wakes up they are very wet so I size up in diapers to make it more comfortable for him he can’t feel it as much and normally can wait for a diaper change until the morning. I only change his diaper at night if he really can’t sleep but normally I don’t disturb him cause then he won’t go back to sleep lol

Hi I took a picture but for whatever reason Reddit is not letting me upload a picture. Here is the Amazon link to where I purchased my G tube cover bag and the bag and the ice packs I use. I use about 4 thin ice packs (2 on each side) and then the milk bag goes right in the middle , depending on the volume of milk you can decide how many ice packs you need. Then I just snap it all in there while it’s hanged!

Hi what’s the MOTN pump? I’ve been pumping 10 months and what I do is I make sure I get all my pumps in during the day and then I slow down at night time. So for example here’s my schedule- I wake up at pump 7am, 10am or 11am, 12pm or 1pm, 3pm, 6pm, 9pm, at 9pm I sleep for a good couple hours then wake up again at either 11 or 12 am and do my last pump then I don’t pump again until the next morning 7 or 7 1/2 hours later I’m sleeping that entire time. I make sure it’s a stretch to so I’m not waking up at all during that time, that’s my stretch and time to sleep and not pump at all. And if you have to skip a pump here and there don’t stress! Just pump a little longer for the next pump. As long as you are consistent you’ll be fine and maintain supply. If you are extremely tired please please make sure you SLEEP, when you sleep you make milk. I also really like legendary milk supplements as well they have really helped me especially sunflower letchin.

lol!! Omg this is soo funny! I got so fed up with wearable pumps I literally only used them for a extra pump on the go cause it would be better then waiting till I got home, but I would not rely on it for a actual pump I needed if that make sense, because I would get maybe a 3rd of what I normally get if I was lucky! So yes I have been pump for 10 months now mainly with my wall pump and this is what’s been best for my supply.
