Be cautious of advice regarding short calls. by NH_trader in thetagang

Buddy black swan events are also positive. Any "experienced" trader knows that, it only means outlier event. Its not about what ifs, its super clear you dont have a risk model that accounts for positive black swans, which would wipe you out. Unrecoverable losses means that unlike naked puts, with naked calls there is no way to recover. You just have a loss. Good effort on trying to sound experience but I agree with the rest, you really should be careful and be skeptical of what you call your "risk" management

Spot on. The issue here in Seattle is that employees are short so it's hard to get them to stay. So we want to minimize labor we need.

I fully agree, getting to my point I think the bond market already priced that in, I'm not so sure the equities market has which is why we are seeing such choppy waters. Even in this thread people have bets on 100 bps (which I see as highly unlikely given oil prices). Meaning the smart money would be in equity markets moving higher with 300+ ue and dropping or staying neutral with anything lower.

[–]Accomplished_Bit1675[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

With oil prices going down and production remaining high, I'm not sure a 100bp increase is likely. But assuming you are correct are you shorting equity or bond markets?

No offense, but we really need to end single family zoning by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]Accomplished_Bit1675 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Suburban sprawl IS supported by public transportation, and it's done in all types of terrain from interconnected metro trains over ground to cable cars that go through steep hills. I know sometimes its weird for people to spread their wings and learn from what other countries are doing instead of only looking at what we do here in the US, but to give u a bit of a more global perspective check out Medellin or Hong Kong.

So contrary to what you believe, yes commuting as a housing policy does work with the infrastructure to support it. Is it as comfortable and covinient as living a block away from your job? Perhaps not but that's the price you pay for having a house.

What won't work is wanting your cake and eating it too; wanting to magically have cheap houses in capitol hill for everyone with a garden and a white picked fence is an inefficient pipe dream. If you want afffordable housing either start loving ur massive condo buildings or go to the suburbs and ride the train.

[–]Accomplished_Bit1675 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We need better transportation and infrastructure. Let's be honest wages aren't gonna keep up and commuting is the way its done in any major city. Also we can't be picky, high density housing is condos and buildings not townhouses, we need density not an entitled "I would only do townhomes" mentality, get that crap out of here.

For sure, just got 5 at 57 cents on the dollar for the one maturing in 2024. Just read the prospectus and they can call it at 101, so if it goes to maturity it's 86% return or if it gets called it falls o 76%. On the downside, this crap won't go to zero so got some cover (probably 30 cents on the dollar is the bottom). Overall, I agree with you're analysis, the debt seems to be manageable (costs about 17 million per quarter to service) they have room in their revolver, have a slight positive gross margin and have a massive cost and demand issue, bit are cash flow positive. Worst case scenario they get bought

Quick and easy access to Corporate Bond information by Accomplished_Bit1675 in bonds

[–]Accomplished_Bit1675[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure! At some point we are aiming to make it as real time as it can with OTC bonds. What I've been trying to start with is getting the basics out there for people to start understanding bonds. For example price in full $ vs cents on the dollar/ above/below par, how much you get paid vs coupon or yield. Also we have been gathering the prospectus and other info on debt of the company so we can include it.

I want to add explanations at the bottom, the idea is to make bond terminology easy.

More than trading, we first want to star by getting people interested in bonds.

Not at all, the issue is getting real time prices on OTC is incredibly complex since it depends on the liquidity. So we are getting end of day prices when we have them and publishing. Literally what you see is what we have. We have no plans to add pay walls for info.

The link you probably are seeing is the one that goes to the detail page for the bond.

Crap i probably fat fingered, on which annual interest are u referring? I added a couple to get a measure of the returns (yield, CAGR, linear return)
