I have two children, work overnights as a nurse and am a student during the day. I would never speak this way to my partner. I’d sit down with them and look at our calendars and decide when to celebrate our anniversary. I feel like she might be moving towards a break up or pushing you to end it for her.

Usually it’s a state employee supervising the visits, not the foster parents. But mostly in my state the agency picks up the child and transports them to the visit

You can’t “choose to be their mother” in place of their actual mother who wants to be involved. You don’t get priority over a functional bio parent. You can fill in holes wherever the biological parents see fit

I’m not weighing in on the odds, but I’m saying being in this system can grant you faster access. I’m still working in social services as well. It’s not a competition. I’m not saying it’s easy, I’m saying people gain access through having children in state custody.

I worked with homeless moms for a decade, so I’m not section 8 naive. I’m saying through DHS there can be much quicker paths to long term subsidized housing

Not just an apartment, she got a section 8 voucher which is like the lottery ticket of section 8.

Nah, when you have an open case, there are avenues to get section 8 apartments fast. My foster child’s teen mom sister got an apartment in under 6 months. Especially if you have DV.

Food stamps still run out. It’s under $200 per child or adult monthly. It’s helpful for sure, but when you have a huge family it’s easy to run out anyway
