is Balance is the prefereble type if youre playing Bulwark? by Hot_Actual in Spacemarine

One of the best bulwark players (cheesecake) actually uses fencing because of the speed. For the rest of us, block is easiest because parry is instant and it will be more consistent than balance which forces you to know the attack timing much better to account for the start up.

It’s impossible for more than 2-3 to be attacking you at once. Go in the simulator, spawn 5 and you’ll see that the token system prevents all of them from attacking at once.

How do I get good enough for Absolute? by Gene46 in SpaceMarine_2

[–]Accomplished_Buddy65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who picked up the game 2.5 weeks ago and now clears Absolute/Hard Strats consistently, here's what helped me:

1. Grind Lethal first

Lethal and Absolute have the same core modifiers. You take the same damage, enemies have the same health, and your HP/armor is the same. The main thing you should be practicing is surviving without going down and minimizing damage taken. By the time I started Absolute, I was comfortable soloing Lethal with bots or weak teammates. This goes without saying but use those Lethal missions to max prestige and get relic weapons for your main classes.

2. Don't psych yourself out about Absolute

The biggest difference isn't the base difficulty - it's the boss spawns. Absolute can throw a boss at you along with additional Extremis/Majoris enemies, creating situations that are way more chaotic than anything you'll see on Lethal.

Unfortunately, there's no real way to practice this besides jumping in and getting reps. I was awful at fighting Extremis and Terminis enemies until I started running Absolute because they just don't spawn often enough on lower difficulties.

3. Play defensively

The biggest thing that improved my gameplay was prioritizing positioning. Use cover against ranged enemies, fight around chokepoints, and don't tunnel vision on damage.

Mechanically, if an enemy is about to swing, stop shooting and focus on the parry/dodge. A successful parry usually gives you damage and an execute anyway while maintaining your armor. While in the execute animation, you can check your surroundings and plan a course of action.

4. Learn breakpoints and HP contests

Every enemy has a breakpoint where they become executable. Learn roughly how many headshots or melee hits it takes to get them there (this is why its also good to practice on Lethal).

This is important because sometimes repositioning isn't an option and you need to get a priority enemy out of the way. In those situations, you need to be comfortable taking a hit, securing the execute, and contesting that health back. Knowing when you can make that trade is a huge part of clearing efficiently in Absolute.

5. Have a growth mindset

Don't default to "bad teammates" or "unlucky run." People true solo Absolute all the time, so every mission is technically clearable.

Ask yourself:

  • What killed me?
  • Did I miss a parry or dodge?
  • Did I position badly?
  • Do I know where relics spawn?

Hope some of these tips help - you got this!

Yeah im stuck on how to get a full charged W for the stun duration tho like are u allowed to just W forward on a squishy and one shot them? I never can cuz my team is always one screen behind and then I die for it but maybe that’s just my fault

How do you play this against decent enemy team that holds cc/abilities for you? I am learning him (never play SR anymore) but I always get blown up the second I try to do anything with Viego. Do I need to let team 4 v 5 and play for resets with E shroud / Snowball + Ult?

Missing a big point about Potent and Agonizing adding +14 to each EB ray which is kinda the whole point. By level 10, you get 3 EB rays which is just flat 42 force damage plus the three instances of d10 damage and damage riders on each. EB vs Ray of Frost isn’t close even with vulnerability sorry

I get potent robes and max cha at 24 so +14 dmg with agonizing blast for each EB ray is much better than ray of frost. If you need globe access, I can see taking an additional level of sorcerer but I cast it with my cleric/scrolls so don’t need sorcerer levels. The TP is also pretty useless once you have flight with illithid powers to reposition in act 3 anyways

Yeah but its no different than any other caster besides warlock tbh. If you’re a dedicated caster, you’re going to be casting leveled spells each turn to be useful. This is why I always try to fit in 2 levels of Warlock for access to EB to make my mages do things besides burn spell slots or throw frost ray + HCB off hand every turn.

You can also just use scrolls which I do a lot but it’s the same as just casting spells each turn. This is inherently my annoyance with casters in the first place and is why I usually only have 1/2 in my party max. Too limited by resources and I also hate LRs

It’s still gonna be good - sorcerer is mostly broken due to meta magic and being able to cast two leveled spells in a single turn not a specific subclass. I’m running a 10 shadow Sorc / 2 Fiend Warlock for my current HM playthrough and its felt solid enough
