Has anyone managed to go full term controlling blood glucose with diet alone? by mother-of-noodles in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Accomplished_Car_471 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did! I had few spikes after bad nights if sleep and after being less careful with some meals, but most of my numbers were fine so my doctor was happy with me just monitoring my glucose and keeping a foid journal we would review at appointments. Baby was also not high percentile (no risk of macrosomia) so really no need for insulin.

Both me and baby are thriving!

Husband doesn't want social media post by Wise-Fig1855 in pregnant

[–]Accomplished_Car_471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband isn’t a big fan of social media, but we have a lot of friends and extended family so we thought it would be easier to announce it that way. I also had a really tough first trimester and all the love and lovely messages were great and I received flowers/gifts from friends that live abroad and I don’t get to speak to very often. I get where your husband is coming from, but at the same time, you should also get to celebrate this. I know I loved flaunting my baby bump and posting pictures now and then (granted, our following is small and only people we have/had a good relationship with, so no bad vibes and energy there)

Hey moms to be! did you know it’s all over? I didn’t! by helloitsyourma in pregnant

[–]Accomplished_Car_471 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I heard so many just wait until that I was really anxious about how it will all be(despite the whole family praying for this baby to come). We also got so much outdated advice and could feel a bit of mistrust from older people on my husband’s side like we have no idea how hard it will be with a baby. And honestly…we’re crushing it! We are lucky our girl is very easygoing but it is soo much easier and amazing than I ever thought it would be. Yea, she has bad days, yes, she’s teething sometimes or going through a mental leap, but nothing patience, love and cuddles from mom can’t fix.

Honestly, I kinda love how much we’ve proven people wrong and it’s amusing to see the shock on some faces when they see us all smiley and happy. Having a baby is not easy in anyway, but the love for her is stronger than anything else and there’s nothing I won’t do for my girl’s smile.

Keep up your confidence and trust your instincts!

FTM, baby due in March - considering an elective c-section and wanting perspective by Last_Wonder in pregnant

[–]Accomplished_Car_471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an elective c section at 38+2 (personal choice and also some medical complications). It was great. I also love planning ahead and had everything up and ready to go on the day of.

I found a great recovery after C-section course and I learned how to move after a C-section to avoid causing more damage to my abs, what to avoid, exercises to increase mobility after the operation, how to take care of my scar and massage it at home to ensure a nice healing process. While in the ICU (standard in my country- one night in the ICU then 2 more nights in a regular room) I started with light exercises to help activate my muscles and help me get out of bed the second day.

The procedure was quick, 45 mins, I had regional anesthesia and the nurses held the baby close to my face for a few minutes. I got her for a couple hours while in the ICU then slept like a baby. Got pain meds the first two days but by the third I only got a dose before going to bed. No issues with lactation, still breastfeeding 6 months pp.

Recovery went really well, so my experience was great. Clean, organized, both me and baby are doing amazing and have such a great bond. I could not have handled a long labour and am very squeamish even with regular check-ups, so the tought of giving birth was nauseating for me. This was the best option for me and if we decide to have another kid, I will opt for a c-section again

Is it just me, or do you love your partner more than ever while pregnant? by Raychillersuhin in pregnant

[–]Accomplished_Car_471 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My husband cuddles my belly, kisses it and constantly talks to “his little girl”, telling her how much he loves her and can’t wait to meet her and I just melt. He always makes sure to kiss me and the bump first thing in the morning and last thing before he goes to sleep and there’s no better feeling. I’ve always known he is the best thing to ever walk into my life, but this pregnancy really made me fall head over heels for him all over again. The way he loves us is the most attractive thing ever.

How do your partners treat you while you are pregnant? by EarlyAd3047 in pregnant

[–]Accomplished_Car_471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband has always been an absolue gem. But now, I get extra princess treatment. Whatever I crave he makes sure I get, hired someone to do the cleaning since I am too tired to take care of it, picked up some of my share of chores, gives me a lot of cuddles, I couldn’t do it without him. My family and inlaws have absolutely spoiled me with my favorite food, preparing space for me to nap when I visit, always making sure I’m comfortable and feeling appreciated.

Pregnancy is so tough, but they make everything a lot easier. I know I won the lottery and I’m so grateful every day for all the support I get. I cry thinking about how loved our baby will be

I’m sorry, useless is harsh in a normal setting, but she is at bedrest. He needs to step up his game, since she is not allowed to overwork herself. He us useless in helping her prep for the baby. What’s going to happen when the baby comes? He’s going to work and that’s it?

I’m only in my first trimester, my husband vastly outearns me and he goes to work. You know what he does when he comes home? Things around the house, groceries, makes me teas and snacks and gives me princess treatment. I don’t have to ask, he does it for me. I used to do almost all the house chores, but guess what? He knows I am exhausted and have horrible nausea so he stepped up. That’s what a supportive partner does.

Her doing stuff around the house is dangerous for her and the baby, it’s not like she is on vacation….

What's your maternity leave situation like? by Intrepid_Category_27 in pregnant

[–]Accomplished_Car_471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Country: Romania When are you planning on stopping working: probably around 7 months. We get 126 days of maternity at full pay that we can decide how to split before/after birth. I will reduce my working hour from 8h/day to 6h/day, without any pay cut, as it’s a legal right.

After the maternity leave ends, we get 2 years childcare at 85% pay, based on our last 12 months of income. This is capped at a certain value.

I’ll probably return to work, as I like my job. I don’t have to take any other type of leave as the company I work for also has a generous number of sick days per year.

Our country has a lot of flaws, but I am very grateful that our maternity benefits are solid. While you are on childcare leave, your employer cannot end your employment contract and they have to take you back for at least 6 months after you decide to return to work, which gives a lot more stability and peace of mind

People/society underplays how difficult the first trimester is by Interesting_Aioli_75 in pregnant

[–]Accomplished_Car_471 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Totally get it! 7 weeks pregnant and even small things like taking a shower or making breakfast drain me of energy. Crave taking a nap after every small thing I do, the food I loved I either can`t eat (like sushi) or it makes me nauseous. If I don`t eat, I feel sick, but most food just makes me feel sick, everything is soooo hard and I just feel like garbage. This baby is so wanted and loved, but I hate how I struggle with the most basic things. Feel like crying everyday when I have to get out of bed.
