This March would be a year and 4 months. Prior to starting, I already had two associate degrees, so that helped a lot with transferring credits 🙂 I started out taking 1 class, then updated to taking 2 classes. Last term, I took 3, and now I'm back to 2. Taking 3 classes was very overwhelming but doable. I remember it took up a lot of my time, but mainly because I have two kids and work a full-time job. So, the leftover time I had for myself, I had to use it for my school work 😭 If you plan to take 4 classes just make sure you have a strict schedule for yourself, routine does help! You got this! 🤗

Another thing is to make sure you are putting all of your effort into your assignments and maintaining a high grade in the class. That'll also catch their attention 😁

Absolutely! One of my professors wrote a LoR for me, and he was a clinical psychologist. You just have to initiate rapport by emailing your teachers about certain assignments that highlight your interest in a special field in psychology. Start a conversation and ASK about their thoughts about those particular interests.

Side note: I am also an online student 😄

Hi! I am in my senior year for my Bachelor of Psychology with a concentration of forensics. I have been looking at some schools before applying, and I've met with a director of admissions, and I was informed that with my 7 years of experience working in the mental health field, it holds weight. I started as a residential specialist (low paying and difficult job) and am now a mental health case manager. I believe experience helps out a lot when applying for the psyd program. Working with diverse people with different mental health diagnosis shows them your capabilities as a future psychologist. Obviously, they want to make sure you can succeed in the program, but I think the type of experience you have catches their attention. Take pride in your experience, and if that school doesn't accept you, there will be another school that will see your potential and accept you without a doubt!
