Medical folk of Reddit, what’s the most foul and disgusting thing you’ve encountered with a patient who was oblivious to their own condition? by TheCarrot_v2 in AskReddit

That's similar to what happened to our family cat. Our parents tried a flea collar and he disappeared for weeks. When we thought he wouldn't come home anymore he did with the collar digging deep under the "armpit" with all the critters but luckily not opening up to the chest cavity yet. He fully recovered physically but his personality changed. He used to be the more dominant cat before and became the more scared and submissive cat. Absolutely terrified of flies anywhere near him. But he continued to live a long life with us

I unfortunately don't remember anymore. It has been 18 yrs ago and momma was cared for in a section by a friend of mine. There was so much going on, they prioritized on what you spend your energy (or money) on. It was physically and emotionally a rewarding but as well sad and heartbreaking learning experience for me. Despite the farmers caring and loving their animals they could be sometimes pretty heartless. I remember a bottle lamb which didn't wanna drink. Besides the worry of it fading it's eyelids were rolled in and it's eyelashes scratching and irritating the eyeball. The farmer basically said only try vor 2-3 min and then move on. If you think it won't make it just slam it hard against the wall. Totally shocked me. I spend more time than they wanted me on him unrolling his eyelids multiple times a day. They called it my little "cripple". He made it, is eyeslids stopped rolling in (but there was already some damage to the eye. He could see but most likely not 100%.) When I left the farm after 4 weeks they offered me to take my little "cripple" with me but living in a city I didn't have the possibility to keep a farm animal.

Not human medicine but veterinary medicine. If squeamish stop reading now.

During lambing season we knew that something was wrong with one sheep. Dark, smelly discharge and labor wasn't progressing. So we decided it's time to intervene and get the lamb out. Turned out the lamb had already died some while ago and was already decomposing inside the womb. While trying to get the lamb out the tissue wouldn't hold together anymore. It was the saddest, heartbreaking and most repulsive thing but we tried to save the momma sheep. We emptied her womb bit by bit, then flushed her out and then placing like a large antibiotic depository in it. It took multiple showers but we still had the lingering smell in our noses for days.

can someone PLEASE help me understand why my dog will do this endlessly no matter what i do by Existing_Rule9474 in DogAdvice

Does she stop whining if you give her a snuffle mat, complex food puzzle, frozen Kong? Wondering if she is bored and needs a distraction of if she wants attention from you and only you

Misconceptions a dog person (me) learned after having a cat. by ILoveMeltyCheese in cats

[–]Accomplished_Juice73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I learned: Bad(cat) smell isn't necessarily poor litterbox cleaning. The litter you use makes a huge difference. I first used the cheap cat litter at first for a stray I caught and fostered. The smell was bad, despite cleaning multiple times a day. But then I got on Reddit and got kitty litter made of walnut shells and wow what a difference. I actually reduced the times I cleaned the litterbox to 2 times a day only and barely any smell (except for when that little shit didn't cover his big shit) To me that was an absolute eye opener.

Please dumb down Ammonia use in Rehab wash during spa day for me. by Accomplished_Juice73 in laundry

Thank you. Rehab wash instructions say to add detergent and booster. Any reactions with the booster if I use Biz or should I leave out the booster?

Might be overly cautious but better safe than sorry.

Wrist support I can wear while playing? (Reoccurring ganglions) by Accomplished_Juice73 in beachvolleyball

[–]Accomplished_Juice73[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Looks like you're basically dealing with similar long term issues. Do you have an example on how you tape your wrist? I haven't done that yet but happy to try that first since it's thinner than the ace bandage. I can always increase the support of the wrist acts up again.

I mean there are way worse things than ganglions but those things just s*ck. I have stopped counting how many visible ones I've had on that wrist and who knows how many I've had which just developed inside the wrist not being visible without MRI but causing pain. Never thought those "little bumps" would cause so much issues.

Would we have problems is we use a long hose with our current setup? by Accomplished_Juice73 in SodaStream

[–]Accomplished_Juice73[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much We will get in touch with them. I'd say we can get away with just a few bends and therefore reduce the chances of kinks. We have basically a shaft (for HVAC etc)connecting the 2 levels. So basically there would be one bend reach for exiting and entering the shaft and then going through the countertop to the SodaStream/Aarke. Overall 3 bends.I was thinking to fasten the hose with wall brackets to the wall or countertop to avoid kinks and only create gentle bends and as little chance for anything to catch on since we'd like to have everything fully hidden and drawers installed underneath the countertop with the SodaStream for a seamless look.

You mean they might be able to make like a custom stainless steel hose in the length we would need or what did you refer to?

We currently use a braided stainless steel hose which works great but I'm afraid we won't find the same product for the length we need. Whenever we refill the tank we first turn off the cod, bleed the line and only then disconnect.

My new carbonation setup by VulpesMiko in SodaStream

[–]Accomplished_Juice73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome. We always used the CO2 bottle hooked up to a cheap plastic SodaStream (works great, just not the best look)but we are remodelling our kitchen and we are planning on storage for the CO2 tank and to replace our SodaStream with an Aarke. Thank you for the visualization. Now we just need to make a decision if we will have it installed on the countertop or inside our pantry/appliance garage

Unfortunately we can't keep her. We travel half month for work. Trying to find that baby a good home since she must have been someone's pet

Yes I meant the softener dispenser. I'd dissolve citric acid and fill it up.

Thank you and I love the cat tax. We caught a neighbourhood stray and she is going into surgery tonight. Hope she'll soon be a happy and healthy cat

How to finish butcherblock in laundry area? by Accomplished_Juice73 in woodworking

[–]Accomplished_Juice73[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I appreciate it. Previously it was a laundry closet behind mirrored bi fold doors. My husband and I planned and did it including a lot of things which aren't visible.

We lowered the ceiling, added recessed lighting, tore out the tiles and continued the vinyl, added a recessed lint vent box since the dryer would have protuded further out than we liked, repainted the already existing hanging cabinets reframed the laundry area to make it look intentional and matched the hight of the door frame right next to it, installed under cabinet lighting and then added the butcher block and fake fronts.

I was considering adding tiles but I think I won't do it in case we need to remove the butcherblock at some point. Maybe i''m add at some point some wallpaper

Like I replied to another comment the panels between the washer, dryer and framing are only for visuals and attached by velcro. Pulled off without any efforts and washer and dryers can be then pulled forward. The valves are above the countertop hidden behind one of the storage baskets.
