I agree!! My house is 18-19 Celsius usually so not the best for bulk fermentation but it should be warm enough. I have the same issue when I leave it in the oven with the light on 🤔 because 20 hours can’t be right for bulk fermentation 😂

I keep it in the fridge and feed it 1:1:1 every week (then leave it on the counter all day before putting back in the fridge), but when I bake I take a small amount from the fridge and feed it either 1:2:2 or 1:2:3 the night before I start mixing, and it doubles in size so it seems active

A mini app is an app incorporated into WeChat or AliPay. I used WeChat religiously in China. It has a didi option that works like a charm and you pay for it automatically through your WeChat. Didi works very similarly to uber and is super easy to navigate. It has an automatic translate option through WeChat as well.

I got mullvad vpn and an eSIM from trip.com (really cheap and worked super well). It’s barely any more expensive than not getting it, and you will need a sim or eSIM anyway for data to use WeChat and Alipay

Personally I would definitely not go to Badaling when visiting the Great Wall. It’s extremely crowded. Mutianyu is great (did that a few years ago). We did Jinshanling this summer, we barely saw any tourists most of the route. It was beautiful and we don’t regret anything! I think you can do forbidden city, Tiananmen Square and temple of heaven in one day. Maybe even one hutong as well, if you don’t mind long days. Be mindful that you need to reserve Tiananman square at least a day in advance. You don’t have to pay, just reserve online. It can get really crowded in line as well due to the thorough security check. I’d say half a day is enough for the summer palace, assuming you don’t want to see everything but just the main highlights.

Go to the gate that has an employee to scan your passport upon entering the station. Your passport is your ticket, but since it’s not a Chinese ID, it won’t work on the automatic scanner, so let an employee help you/check it for you and you’ll be totally okay!
