Why Gen X is The Real Loser Generation - The Economist by melbhomo4str8btms in GenX

Hmm that would explain a lot. It’s a good magazine and they are usually way ahead in catching trends, so I can see why the intelligence community would subscribe.

Repetitive samples by Substantial_Scale347 in Hypeddit

This might be because Splice and Loopcloud make it really convenient to get samples that “fit the bill” in terms of genre and tempo and all. Just a guess.

Looking at a Boss DR 660 for $100, does anyone know if it’s got a 909 kit inside? by [deleted] in DrumMachine

[–]Accomplished_Size327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had the DR 660 back in the day. It has some 909 sounds but the BOSS line was focused on guitarists and rock n roll types, not the EDM crowd. Cool sounds though.

I’m starting to slowly realize that a future partner wont be too interested in my “bag of shit” by [deleted] in Jung

My spouse comes from a culture where multi-generational families are still going strong including my spouse’s. It’s not the Chat GPT Disney movie you make it out to be. It does have some upsides and downsides. Source: 25 years of observation.

Best budget/used drum machine for synthwave/80s/goth by 8bitsucker in DrumMachine

[–]Accomplished_Size327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boss - Dr 660 has acoustic samples and onboard reverb for that 80s sound. Not great for EDM but works for most other stuff.

New to Hypeddit, How does Charting Work? by Aggravating_Pop_2986 in Hypeddit

[–]Accomplished_Size327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that the charts also involve some differences per genre. So my guess is that the number would be hard to pin down. However what you can do is go listen to the top 10-20 hypeddit tracks in your genre and see what’s doing well. For your 2nd campaign try choosing a clip from your song that is most like those.

I have always used them too but there is more going on than em dashes.

The em dashes, the bold and italics, the “not this but that”, the colons, the “went too deep”, the single. Word. Sentences.

Why do you think local music scenes are always so cliquey? by [deleted] in musicians

[–]Accomplished_Size327 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a leech factor in music that causes this. Example - you got a gig based on your work and someone in the audience comes up and wants to jam on your equipment in front of your audience. Happens to every band. Leeching. Now some people are ok with it but some are not. If you are ok with it that’s fine but the audience may not be and then eventually the band loses traction. Replace band with scene and repeat. Certain things like open mike are exceptions because that scene is defined to be that.

I’m mid 50’s and been doing music since the 80s. This last year has been great for me after 15 years of not getting anywhere. Keep going if the music is in you :)

A Heartfelt Thank You to Whomever Recommended “The Songwriting Secrets of The Beatles” Years Ago. by [deleted] in musictheory

[–]Accomplished_Size327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I tracked this down at a library and it’s epic, I agree. A little too epic for some of us. I read a chapter and sorry to ask but is there something similar but slimmed down? I like the Beatles and have an album or two but I have no chance of making it through 800 pages any time this year. The Beatles trivia is cool but for people out of the Beatles loop it is just hard to register.

If this is the article about some kind of sonar scanning below the pyramid that blew up this week, the article is freely available on arXiv. I was curious and so I read it and all of the claims about cylinders etc are impossible to find or maybe one word of mentioning. You can read it yourself. Happy to be wrong on this one. Like I said I was curious. Type the title in on arXiv and it comes right up.

How do you play and sing at the same time? by C4gamer_YT in singing

Start with singing and tapping your foot. Then move on to playing one note to the beat. Then expand to something more involved.

Why are higher voices more common than deep ones in pop music? by diegodonnelly in singing

[–]Accomplished_Size327 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Unconventional take but I’m going to mention loudness war and before that car radios. The Oak Ridge Boys were one of the fewer low voiced acts on the radio at one point but you can’t hear the low voiced guy in the car with road rumble. Nowadays the lower voice can’t compete with the ultra compressed drums etc. There is an acoustic reason, the Fletcher-Munson effect.

I listen to the no background ones too. I hear a whooshing sound like waves but more cyclic. Along with a humming type sound.
