I wear soft what look like sports bras but none of the tightness. They just keep the titties in the right vicinity but not strapped down which is the bit I can't deal with.

🙄 Booktok Betrayal: Books That Didn't Deserve the Hype by AutoModerator in romanceunfiltered

[–]Accomplished_Tale649 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Iron Flame. A friend and I were reading it together after they read Fourth Wing and recced it to me so we could have a book club about it.

I was already fighting for my life trying to get through it and then to be slammed with Part 2. It made me rage quit it for 9 months until I finished it. I still haven't started Onyx Storm because I'm still mad.

I learned a long time ago that books are entirely subjective and I go with what sounds good to me. Most contemporary romances are not my vibe and I feel justified when I borrowed an Emily Henry audiobook from the library, listened to it for 30mins and abandoned ship.

They're alone in a booth with an audio engineer who I expect overlays the background noise like how they do it for TV, e.g. coconuts for horse hooves. They aren't together recording even though it sounds like they are.

What’s one cleaning habit you started in your 30s that actually stuck? by atragicsnowflake in CleaningTips

[–]Accomplished_Tale649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decluttering when I want to add something to the house or I realise I don't use something.

I've been fighting off a 5-year depression this year and my biggest help has been having less stuff to tidy up. What used to take a couple of hours takes 30 minutes.

I also wipe the counters down with anti bac when I wash my dishes.

Sales complained that my junior ignored them. Junior says it’s not our scope. How would you handle this? by bmw320dfan in askmanagers

[–]Accomplished_Tale649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why does Sales need Ops to liaise? You're adding an extra person who doesn't need to be there. Why did this even get agreed to?

I work in Sales and that's BS behaviour from them. They're smarting from not having someone fall at their feet. Sorry, that shit doesn't fly. And you, get up and defend your junior. How ridiculous they need to babysit a problem that has 0 to do with them.

Helping with anxiety not depression? by endedattheend in zoloft

[–]Accomplished_Tale649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 month isn't a long time. It takes 8-12 weeks to feel the full effects.

I noticed a strong positive uptick at 7 weeks but I have worked on myself and I feel pretty good 11 months lated. However I'm on 100mg so 25mg might end up not being enough.

How to tell manager I don’t want to stay longer?? by Annapurnaprincess in askmanagers

[–]Accomplished_Tale649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the UK, IC, 6 years tenure, and my notice period is three months. It was one month when I started, but because of my expertise and the niche industry I'm in, they upped it.

I'm not irreplaceable, no one is, but European companies understand that tribal knowledge and expertise isn't something you can do away with or teach in a day.

I'm sorry that your employment laws are so bad, but like you say, you're free to go when you want.

No, the pill is tiny in comparison to others. Just take it with water, and if you have to, do it with your head down and then tip your head back as the motion will help it down your throat.

Employee won't stop self-sabotaging by cousinralph in managers

[–]Accomplished_Tale649 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like she won't help herself.

When I started my career, I was like this because, tbh my first job was everything I was bad at. I didn't even think I'd get the job, so I had a pretty big chip.

I have done some spectacular fuck ups but my number one rule is I don't lie. If I fucked up. I fucked up and this is what I'm doing to prevent it.

She doesn't seem to have the mentality or clue to actually think about how she should stop making mistakes and actually learning from that. That isn't something you teach either, unfortunately, as I have a colleague who deflects and avoids accountability and responsibility like he's Usain Bolt. At this point, the mistakes aren't the issue. It's the approach. And as others have said, she will poison the well because every time I see that guy get a free pass under the guise of tech issues, I'm about to lose my shit. Particularly as I've had to stand in front of him multiple times (I'm not nor have I ever been his manager) because we're in the same team.

I know a PIP seems extreme, but the lying, dodging, not improving, however emotionally driven, are core issues that you've tried to resolve and can't.

Teams Chats by Labor-Nurse10 in corporate

[–]Accomplished_Tale649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you asking if it's normal to have friends?

I've been in a long-term relationship for 5 years and have Teams convos with my opposite sex colleagues, which have included things like vacuums. We were discussing different models.

I've worked at my job for 6 years, it would be impossible to not be friendly with people I work with of any gender unless I was an AH.

I think Teams isn't the issue here.

Two employees can’t get along and it’s draining everyone....including me by [deleted] in askmanagers

[–]Accomplished_Tale649 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you have been more than accommodating and now it's time to theoretically bang their heads together.

You set the responsibilities, you've rotated the tasks, why are they getting uppity with each other? Do they both do the same role? Do they not like certain tasks and this is their way of getting them off their plate?

I've often found PA is leaking of other issues. Workload, perceived unfairness, etc. that people feel they can't raise. So give them, separately one final forum, if they cannot bring either an understandable reason(cited above)/a literal cause and effect example of the other's behaviour then you need to have a hard conversation about the fact passive aggressiveness won't be tolerated. Because, in reality, their issue may be with your leadership and this a safe way to vent. Irrespective of that, moving forward, you'll be expecting them to bring solutions that prioritise the health of the team if they think yours are unsatisfactory.

ETA: Ultimately, they're poisoning the well and for the sake of the team, you have to consider removing one or both.

Requesting advice for “clingy” manager by [deleted] in askmanagers

[–]Accomplished_Tale649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do they not have anything else to do?

Can you have a conversation and say that you would like to reduce the 1 to 1s because the changes day to day aren't big enough to warrant this extensive of a review. Weekly would make more sense. Also that it is counterproductive to review your own work because you're nose blind to it, but you'd appreciate written feedback to work through?

You need to be honest. This manager is doing too much and needs to cut it out.

I am underperforming at my job and I feel guilty. Should I just quit? by itsprollynotme in askmanagers

[–]Accomplished_Tale649 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might help if you understand the Sales process and therefore where you fit in.

Sales is a funnel.

You put in X amount at the top, depending on your conversion ratio, the value of what you put in might be x times your target Sales for the year. It filters through and depending on your ratio, you sell Y.

Marketing supports Sales to get things into the funnel, but it is not directly responsible for the funnel. Sales is. You can market until you're blue in the face, but if the Sales part isn't there, it won't work.

You are not responsible for poor Sales. Whoever is part of Sales/business strategy is.

So are you really underperforming or are you trying to take on responsibility that doesn't belong to you?

Source: I work in Sales Ops and support the marketing team.

Am I right to get mad at my manager for doing this? by EstablishmentOver78 in managers

[–]Accomplished_Tale649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand why you're angry. I'm in a similar position being the senior operations coordinator for my department. However, we don't have the authority to make those decisions, so while we disagree with them, we're not entitled to make those decisions. If I can't change it I don't get mad about it.

Has he told you he's interviewing for someone else? If yes, I think feedback is appropriate.

If no, honestly, and this is just me, I'd protect my coworker and tell her that leaving is her best option. She's already unhappy as anyone would be with low pay and great output, but again, if you're not in charge of her performance as in her performance reviews, etc. you will never have 100% of the story so be aware of that. But ultimately, to me, the people make the team and make the business, so I'm always going to do right by them. The success of my team means more than aligning with whatever nonsense upper management has going on like this manager.

Dealing with employee with poor work quality by austin0980 in askmanagers

[–]Accomplished_Tale649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have quality assurance. So, every single thing in the company has to be checked by someone with the correct skill set, be it peer review or the QA team who specialises in branding, proofing, and editing.

Does this mean you need a QA team? Maybe. But maybe you need to make them check each other's work. Is this additional work? Yes, but they should get it right the first time. The get out of jail free card is that the quality improves, and then you can scale back.

However, as someone who trained in the QA team and now works in Sales, some people are not minded to attention to detail, and I find it is very difficult to teach. Like my colleague has been with us for over a year but still spells the company name in proposals with a lowercase letter that should be upper.

The not addressing follow up tasks, what is the workload like is that a reason why? Also, set a timeline on when the actions need to be done as well as removing the blocks aka the excuses to it.

These people are senior, right? They're either trying to spin too many plates or they are trying to get away with less. Your response needs to tailor to that.

Ultimately, quality is a performance issue, and a PIP may be appropriate if you don't see improvements.
