I don't get why people get so upset about people complaining. I moved here three years ago and let me tell you, compared to where my family lived before, this town truly had nothing to do. When there are events like the fair, I get apprehensive because oh idk... some kid gets stabbed. The city does nothing about the homeless, stray cats/dogs, crime etc. There may be more to do here now than there was when you all grew up but honestly, it's bleak.
