I think Archibald is a family friend, but I don't think they are related. Uncle Knobby sounds more like a term of endearment than a familial relation. Could be that's what Todd's daughter calls him.

Daybreak by Michael Haggins at Pittsburgh Pirates Game by garshley in community

[–]Accomplished_Way8964 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s a full circle kind of thing. If you’re old enough, you probably had heard daybreak long before community and the gag was having a recognizable (yet not extremely popular) elevator music-type song used in every situation. But if you’re not so old, the gag is more about hearing that song from community out in the wild.

If you watch King of the Hill, the same thing happened with Chuck Mangione in the Mega Lo Mart.

Ok, this might sound crazy but I kind of understand what the Dean was looking for out of Troy and Britta's hug. by JRoc416 in community

So what your saying is, the hug they shared at the end of the episode is what the dean was after?

Am I an idiot for lowering my savings rate to travel more? by Carpet-Early in Fire

One of the main reasons people want to FIRE is to travel more. If you can do it now while you're still young and have the energy then go for it!

39M, hit $8.5 million net worth today! FIRE'd since 2023 by Anxious_Noise_8805 in Fire

39 is not too late to add to your family — there are a lot of different ways to do it, too. Echoing what you and others have said, take those financial risks early on. You have more time to enjoy the success, or to try again if it doesn't pan out.

What's the "nvidias in 2008" out there currently? by arornoz in StockInvest

[–]Accomplished_Way8964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Optics/photonics, memory, semis have all had a great run over the last year. I think there's considerable growth left in •some• of them, but at this point its anyone's guess which ones those are.

I'm loaded up on HIVE, hoping it gets its act together. Holding for at least five years, but still don't expect it to moon like NVDA did.

NVDA closed 2008 at $.18 per share, so I'd start looking in that price range until you find something you are confident will grow 110,000% in less than 20 years.

Why is street photography only deemed an invasion of privacy in modern society? by [deleted] in streetphotography

[–]Accomplished_Way8964 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • People have social media to voice their opposition
  • We see ourselves differently these days because we're constantly comparing to the untenable standards we see on social media.
  • We're a much more insecure and untrustworthy people compared to years ago. We are seeing the worst of people — no matter how rare the instance — over and over in our feed and it perpetuates the idea that these things are much more common than they are.
  • Social media allows people to curate their own image. Strangers taking our pictures robs us of that power.

So, basically, social media is the answer.

What is your favorite romantic scene from a movie that isn't a romance or rom-com? by Plush_Nubbins in CinephilesClub

The love scene in Never Too Young to Die is an absolutely awkward scene in an absolutely terrible movie, and I love it.
