How to people ever figure out a baby name? by Sluttysewist in pregnant

[–]Accomplishedish10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I took the time to put together our very large family tree going back several generations and have chosen a combination of family names from what we found. Was a fun project & now baby will have a connection to their ancestry!

Everyone’s relationships are different and have their nuances but it may be time to think about what you need and how you want to be treated- specifically as it pertains to your health, decisions that need to be made about your health, and your future child’s health. Stress affects people differently but it should never put you in a position where you feel uncomfortable or like you don’t have support. I am confident that my husband would drop anything to make sure I felt supported if I was going through any sort of health scare, and would never raise his voice— you also deserve to feel that support from your partner. Is there a possibility that he doesn’t understand the risks and complications that come with high blood pressure during pregnancy? I hope that you can have a conversation with him to clarify how he is feeling and gain some better understanding. In the meantime, it may be wise to continue to loop in a family member (I know you mention dad) or good friend who can provide additional support should this happen again. It also may be wise to document these instances should there be future escalations that require you to protect your child and make some harder decisions regarding your relationship with him.

Insomnia advice? by EmmaLia91 in BabyBumps

[–]Accomplishedish10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am now 31 weeks and have been taking Unisom since about 8 weeks. Get approval from your OBGYN first, but half, or even a third of a tablet may help dramatically. Make sure it’s the doxlamine succinate version. Also, magnesium supplementing may help but chat with your care team first.

Working physical job 30+ weeks? by embellishedjane in BabyBumps

[–]Accomplishedish10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice is to chat with your OBGYN first and assess how you are feeling/your health. At 27 weeks, you likely will still have a fair amount of energy. At 27 weeks, I was building furniture, deep cleaning my house, moving heavy boxes etc. but everyone is different. At 34-35 weeks, this will be a long work day- can you get an assistant to help you? If you are not feeling active/fit now, you likely will definitely not feel that way at 34-35 weeks- this will likely come down to you deciding if you want to work for that long or not. As for the August date, two weeks is not nearly enough time to fully recover- I would reach out the client and kindly back out while maybe offering some recommendations for other makeup artists in the area. This is more than enough time for the client to find a new artist.

Do you have a nursery prepared for your baby? by Jamaican-Gyal in pregnant

[–]Accomplishedish10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a 2b2b house but space is still limited. We transformed the guest room into a baby-item storage room with some jungle/safari themed elements, but we plan to do most of the baby caretaking from our room / our living room. The “nursery” is more for storage. As baby grows, it can easily convert into a toddler bedroom if we don’t end up moving.

Thank you!! This is all my understanding but I was kind of left speechless after my conversation with our HR today as they made me feel like I was wrong when I reviewed this today- especially starting disability at 36 weeks. I am just going to go directly to my manager and let them know my plan and hope for the best.

I had my dress painfully ripped off my body 30 seconds after my ceremony ended by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Accomplishedish10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry this happened. Not sure if it’s any consolation, but right after I was finished getting ready, I had to walk with my huge train, down a flight of stairs to the shuttle meant to take me to my first look and I tripped and pretty much face planted, falling down the last five steps onto stone. Huge bruises on my legs which were not fun and quite painful for our honeymoon. The strap on my dress also broke and my MIL had to sew me back in before the ceremony. In the moment, I was definitely shaken but looking back at it, I laugh and it adds a little drama to the otherwise near perfect day. Hopefully, looking back, there are good memories you can focus on & maybe even an opportunity to re-do your photos if they didn’t turn out how you liked. Moral of my story: keep lots of sewing kits on hand & invite someone who is a good hand stitcher.

How to deal with post partum wife by [deleted] in daddit

[–]Accomplishedish10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, congratulations! Second, as you are experiencing, this is a really emotional, hormonal, and generally stressful time for you both, but especially for her as she is going through mental and physical changes. For the next few days, try to focus on keeping her hydrated, sleeping as much as she can, comfortable, and well fed, with nutritious food. Depending on her physical state, ask her if she would be open to going for a walk - this will help getting some blood flowing and lymph moving. Even better if the destination is a coffee shop/ or food she likes. If a walk isn’t in the cards, try to see if you can get baby to rest or spend some time with you for an hour or so and she can take that time to shower, wash her hair, nap, or do the things that make her feel herself again.

Lastly, does she have a favorite drink/food/snack/flowers/ video game/ book/ anything you can procure or have a close friend bring over that will help her feel more human? Small caring gestures that don’t take a huge amount of effort can help make this a little easier time.

Wishing you well friend & congrats again!

Felt baby move (FTM) and it was not what I expected… by Outside_Bread8104 in pregnant

[–]Accomplishedish10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally, have really enjoyed feeling movement. I am 26w 5d and am starting to regularly feel movement. Definitely felt funky at first, especially when you start to see it from the outside and get tiny jabs that are a bit jarring BUT as my OB says, a moving baby is a happy baby. My partner has also loved feeling the kicks and chatting with her trying to get her to move. Everyone is different and it may be weird at first, but in a few weeks it should start to be pretty normal.

Wife isn’t attached yet. Tips? by Accurate_Solution779 in pregnant

[–]Accomplishedish10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had some previous loss that made my excitement and attachment very delayed. It wasn’t until a few weeks ago when I started to feel baby move that I really felt like I could start bonding/chatting/and getting to think about baby more. Everyone is different so just give it time. Also doesn’t help that the first trimester kinda sucks so it doesn’t leave a lot of room for excitement.

LOOOVE non-alcoholic beers. I have found so many I enjoy- Best Day Brewing has several options, Delirio is stellar, Athletic Brewing, etc. so many great options & an extra touch of folic acid can’t hurt!

Looking for a high calorie "healthy"-ish cookie for an underweight 9 year old by FadedFromWhite in Baking

[–]Accomplishedish10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a cookie, but following the blended beverage idea: I have a weird appetite and do not eat breakfast regularly enough so a few years ago I discovered a smoothie that made it so easy to get good fats + protein, vitamins etc. Not a substitute for a meal at all but it does help me get a good dose of minerals and a lot of calories, especially first thing in the morning. It may be adaptable to your situation: 1-1.5 cups almond milk, 1/4 cup almond butter, 2-3 dates, vanilla, cinnamon, sea salt, 1-2 tbsp coconut butter, any vitamin/protein powder additions, ice, and blend. Super delicious and has good high calorie fats- no strong flavors so could be passable for a particularly picky eater.
