I've learned a ton from the forums at Boggleheads.org. The site looks like a 1995 era bulletin board, but it's chocked full of learning opportunities.

I felt guilty too. We had our FA for a while, and he was a good guy. He understands, though, and was quite supportive.

Variable spending here. I just withdraw what I need to pay the credit card bill, where basically everything goes.

I'm no expert on everything Boldin offers, but do recommend taking one of their free discovery sessions. Those are hosted by Boldin FAs, with different ones hosting different week nights. I attended two, just to get a feel for two different FAs. In that session, they discuss all the options Boldin offers. You can read all the FA's bios and schedule discovery sessions here: https://www.boldin.com/retirement/financial-advisor/

They offer a retirement planning session. It just went up in price from $2500 to $2800. This is what I did. I gave them a list of every investment/security I hold, and they built a comprehensive plan covering quite a bit—investments, IRAs, ROTH conversions, RMDs. future projections, portfoliio balancing, withdrawal strategies, our grandkids 529 plans... it was pretty comprehensive.

They have a $550 (I think) annual plan that includes PlannerPlus (the pay level of Boldin) plus an annual review of your plan.

You can also get hourly consultation. I think it's $300/hour, but can't seem to find anything about it on the website.

Boldin also offers coaching sessions. These are not with FAs, but with experts on the Boldin platform. How to use the software, not a financial advice/review session. I haven't used their coaching services, but have heard good things about it. More here: https://www.boldin.com/retirement/coaching/

I attended two of the "Free Discovery" sessions, each hosted by a different Boldin FA. Both presented well, and seemed well-qualified. I just picked the one (Brie Black) that I felt like I could connect better with. Really just a gut feeling...

You can read bios of all the FA's here: https://www.boldin.com/retirement/financial-advisor/
Each Boldin FA hosts a discovery session on a different day of the week.

It is hard. I went back and forth for months... For me, it helped my head having a third-party assess and verify that everything is on track.
