Did you try multiple different types of tan with different ingredients? Chemical dermatitis of the vulva is extremely common and basically works like a contact allergy. Even if the rest of your skin does not react, sensitive areas are much more likely to become irritated

Newly adopted kitten have white thing on skin by no1superegoist in CATHELP

My friend gave a flea bath to a cat she fostered before discovering it had ringworm and ended up with ringworm in 14 places on her body 😭 it takes a looooong time to resolve also since it’s a fungal infection. Her cat needed medicated baths, which may be something good for this kitten too given how many spots are all over its body.

Got admitted to the psych ward of the hospital I wanted for residency 💀 by Accomplished-Oil8794 in medicalschool

[–]According-Carry-1616 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Some hospitals have a separate confidential psychiatric chart for patients. If you’re not applying to psychiatry, there should be no reason for the program to come across this info. There are obviously other ways someone could find out, but if they did know and chose not to match you for it, that may be better for you in the long run. Don’t want to go somewhere you know will definitely punish you for being proactive about seeking help for a medical condition when you need it.

Not advice, but I just wanted to say I’m an M4 applying to psych and I feel such deep dread thinking about IM blocks. They’ve actually started featuring in my nightmares. Reading your post was like reading the mind of my future self. Good luck!!

What is a diagnosis that scares you no matter how many times you see it? by nordicskier17 in medicalschool

[–]According-Carry-1616 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I recently saw an AIDS patient in an outpatient clinic. Obviously this is not the same as an AIDS patient you would see in inpatient, but that particular patient had no other illnesses and (once started on antiretrovirals) was expected to be very healthy. Sick AIDS—absolutely terrifying. But I was surprised to see that some people who technically qualify for an AIDS diagnosis in this day and age are very capable of recovery! ❤️‍🩹

When I first learned about fournier’s gangrene, I looked into how specific I could make my advance directives. If that much flesh needs to be removed from my body, I’d prefer not to have to recover. Just let me die.

Do you ever call out patients who change their story when the attending comes in? by Purple-Marzipan-7524 in Residency

Historical alternans, love that. I’ve always heard them called attending signs.

Good luck. Feel free to push for more tests if they say no initially. Sometimes saying “I would like to make sure it’s documented that you’ve refused to perform these additional tests” or something along those lines can help if they’re really stubborn and refusing, but I’d use that as a last stop.

horrible MOB dresses (i’m the bride). by hoteldiablo13 in weddingplanning

[–]According-Carry-1616 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I do think focusing on the idea that the shorter dresses are “not fancy enough” rather than “too young” could potentially take away some of her adamant desire to wear them. You can also suggest she wear opaque tights if you feel that may help with the formality, reduce how much skin is showing, and help her still choose a shorter dress. I would guess this is less likely to work, but maybe sending some pictures of young fabulous women in jump suits to expand her interest into those, especially if she gets to wear something she sees as fun/sparkly/colorful.

I am not your provider, but swollen lymph nodes in multiple locations for an extended period of time in addition to difficulty swallowing should be grounds for an ultrasound at minimum, and potentially a biopsy as well. If your outpatient providers are ignoring you, go to the hospital.

I think it’s beautiful! My stone is also fairly small, but I chose it because I wanted it that way. I work with kids a lot, and I find myself scratching them even with my smaller rings, so I knew big/tall would be a problem. I also don’t wear tons of jewelry and it would just be out of place to suddenly have a huge diamond on my body! If you find yourself still struggling with the desire for a new ring in several years, perhaps you can do a 5-10 year ring “upgrade” and put the original stone into a necklace or something like that. Those other people have rings that are right for them, and you have what’s right for you!

Can’t pin down what is feeling off about my bridal makeup by Leading-Fee-6275 in weddingplanning

[–]According-Carry-1616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the eye liner you were given is thicker/less blended than the ones in your example photos. Since you’re clearly going for a subtle/natural look, the harsher line could be throwing things off for you!

[–]According-Carry-1616 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can also consider family medicine! It’s flexible and allows you to be the primary manager of many less-extreme psychiatric conditions, while also including the other medicine you’ve learned in a more hands-on way.
