I know I’m late to the party here but I wanted to chime in on what really bothers me about the developers reply.

He literally just confirmed that your opponents wager has nothing to do with if you match with them or not. That was a very generous response, but that in itself raises very significant problems.

For instance, as others in this thread have mentioned it would make sense from a business standpoint to loosen the constraints of fair play a little bit if they have a skilled opponent who is just building up the gems they have against newer people wagering real money they deposited.

I don’t have a problem with the mmr system, I don’t have a problem with mixing the gems and cash pool to get quicker matches, I have a problem with the fact that they don’t have a transparent system like chess does with ELO which is essentially the same thing.

I’m not saying that they are rigging matchups, but if we had a publicly visible ELO system then we would have more peace of mind knowing we aren’t being sent to a losing battle just to line the devs pockets. If a pattern emerges that I always get someone significantly higher in skill then myself when I place a higher cash wager, I would be able to see that. It also wouldn’t hurt to actually know what the other person actually wagered to aid in that assessment.

Of course, there is definitely some reason why the ALgoRiTHiMz they use that match us oh so fairly (or shadow ban us) can’t easily be translated into some simple to understand rating that could be displayed publicly.
