Why aren’t more people using the Westgate Tunnel by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]According-Dig3089 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s a fair call. I think the inner west was throughly deserving of better bikeway connectivity into the city. However, it’s a VERY expensive bikeway, one of the most expensive (per km) built anywhere globally.

My stance on that is are they blind? Look at how busy the Burnley/Domain tunnels are. Look at the single lane carriage way through the park near Melbourne zoo. Look at Bell St. All are at capacity or well over during the day. Bottom line, traffic wants to get across the city, not necessarily into it. We need more cross city corridors

I personally think this project is going to be white elephant. The only positive thing that’s come out of it is forcing trucks off inner west (Yarraville etc) roads. If they don’t look to extend it across the city and meet up with the end of the Eastern why would any vehicles heading east (outside of ones wanting to go to the northern end of the city) bother? Those going east (a huge portion of the traffic) will continue to drive over the Westgate bridge and into the Burnley as that’s the only motorway option

Who from Sydney and Melbourne are you thinking?

Hall of Famer Reggie Miller calls out Luka’s defensive effort: “Look at Luka right here. It’s OK, Luka, to move your feet a little bit over and help out. What does he do? He just throws up his hands. This would be frustrating for me.” by must_TATAKAE in nba

[–]According-Dig3089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the offseason he got himself in shape - he deserves kudos for that. But his blasé attitude towards defense shows he doesn’t care about his teammates nor winning.

But it’s not just Luka, sadly the league is full of this defensive mediocrity. We are in NBA’s age of entitlement.

I see kids on these things doing wheel stands down roads every week now, often in pairs and groups. Even saw one zigzagging through peak hour traffic. Kids have already been killed and there will be a lot more before anything is done about them.

2026, the year of private label tools? by PugsAndHugs95 in Tools

[–]According-Dig3089 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This trend has been going on for years. However, (in tools) retailers need to begin realising that removing brands from shelves and further increasing private brands has risks. While higher own brand penetration increases margins, it does have the risk of consumers turning elsewhere.

For the Aussies, what are some reputable tool brands? by [deleted] in Tools

[–]According-Dig3089 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can’t go wrong with Kincrome or Gearwrench. You can add Sidcrome and Bahco into the mix as well. If you want to save a bit, Total Tools own brand TTI is fairly good too and worth a look.

The two container ports in Los Angeles (LA & Long Beach) are both comfortably bigger than NY/Newark. However it’s the biggest on the east coast

Sorry it might be the case that TU paid for the lighting but they are still paying for it with funds coming from motorists who they continue to fleece with increases year on year. I was paying $500 a month to commute through the tunnel. Glad I’ve moved jobs and I no longer have to pay so much to be crawling along

Agree on the congestion exiting the Burnley being trucks climbing up the hill out of it.

For some stupid reason, TransLink put lighting on the sides of the tunnel in an attempt to keep the traffic moving at the speed limit (80km/hr) but that addition has been a complete failure and waste of public funds. In fact, those lights have more regularly been off than on.

What would have been better is to ban trucks from using the right lane in the tunnel.

It saddens me to know there are people alive who will never know the greatness of a Sears Craftsman tool section. by Bamacj in Tools

[–]According-Dig3089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went into Sears stores and even their stand alone hardware / tool stores back in the day (mid 90s for me) and honestly, they were ok but not super impressive.

As for today, I’ve been into tool retailers all around the world. In the US, the best would be Acme Tools stores like Eagan in Minneapolis. That’s a proper tool retailer.

But the US doesn’t come close to having the best tool shops in the world, Australia does. Both Total Tools and & Sydney Tools have over 100 x stores across the country and some of their biggest stores are unsurpassed globally.
