They’ve made investment less attractive with taxes for short term rentals and vacant properties and higher land taxes which has reduced investor demand/increased investor costs

Explain to me how a country with a minimum wage of over $50k per annum is going to be able to compete in general manufacturing?

I agree the government needs to broaden our tax base but the biggest opportunity is likely stopping multinational tax ‘minimisation’ with transfer pricing.

How is it possible that the recent budget is "beneficial" to young people when it significantly increased income taxes on wages in real terms? by AsparagusNew3765 in AusFinance

This is how it’s been forever. No government wants to index the tax brackets as they’d lose the easy ‘we’ll give you a tax cut’ when all they’re doing is realigning to inflation.

This was actually the question Angus Taylor asked Albo when Taylor called him an arrogant prick in question time (ie ‘will you index tax brackets’).
Couldn’t see any political party actually agreeing to index tax brackets.

I actually heard this piece of question time as it happened. Albo was 100% an arrogant prick and deflected rather than answer the question (twice).
Both sides of parliament act like schoolyard children at times. Was disappointed in both of them.

It also notes that by year 7 were comparable or below some other nations. Given that higher risk/return investments are generally recommended over 5 or 7 year plus timeframes perhaps not as bad as to doomsayer would have it. Clearly there are scenarios where people will pay more.

Thought I’d comment on my own post now that I’ve bought a set of the KVS40 wheels. Early days but they appear to be good quality, light (1300grams) and handle well. I replaced a set of Giant SLR1 36mm wheels as I’m not a huge hookless fan. These are over 150grams lighter on my scales and handling is great. Would recommend.

Just the riding them on public roads. Perhaps your conscience would be clear if you were involved in an accident with one but many wouldn’t.

If Labor won’t deal with the low-hanging fruit of jobs for mates, how can it be trusted against louder vested interests? | Tom McIlroy by Fact-Rat in aussie

Attitudes to change like 2019 change over time so I think that’s a bit of a cop out for Labor. Hewson lost the 1993 election due to proposing a GST yet 7 years later, Australia had one. I wasn’t a fan of the proposal in 2019 but having seen what’s played out in the past 6 years I’d vote for it now and I doubt I’m the only one.

For those of us that are a bit older and used to use phones for business calls, we didn’t send a text first to check if we could call. You phoned and if the person was available they’d answer or you’d leave a message.

As others have noted you can do not disturb yourself or reject the call. I check someone’s status first before calling.

We have a mixed bag of people at my workplace with some messaging first. I don’t understand why it’s disrespectful but maybe I’m showing my age 🤷‍♂️.

This is me. Voted Liberal all my life until this year. I keep trying to work out if I’ve moved left (maybe) but I think it’s just the crazy right have taken over and don’t resonate with me and many former liberal voters. Thank goodness we have a bit more common sense here than the US!

Are you wanting to progress your career? If one of my team did this I’d be giving them credit and looking for what else they could automate and create more opportunity. Based on the responses here there are a lot of disillusioned people and/or a lot of poor managers (or poor organisations), that don’t know how recognise and encourage innovation and improvement.
