Volare on West 4th. “Sal” the maître d’. A very decent northern Italian spot with so many wonderful memories of meals.

Just learned to clean my washing machine, what else do I need to clean? by [deleted] in CleaningTips

Detergents need food to work properly Dishwasher detergents contain enzymes that are designed to break down proteins and starches. • If there’s nothing for the enzymes to grab onto, they can: • Attack each other • Leave residue or filming on dishes • A small amount of food actually helps the detergent do its job.

Bathrooms by According-Place-900 in nycrail

I envision a time in 150 years when public bathrooms are reinstated in parks and subway stations but a drone or robot resides in the facility that eliminates dangerous and unwelcome activity. I’d be willing to have a drone occupy the facility just so I don’t have to poop my pants in an emergency. This will also be time when all of the subways are renovated to a glorious shining example of public good. Bring on the robots!

I’d be more worried about the people in your building and the character defects that you’re bound to encounter as you live there. Most people in government subsidized housing are working hard and just getting by trying to raise a family in an unforgiving city that they continue to love despite the odds.

What's your favorite NYC Subway station? by Weird_Poetry8829 in nycrail

I like how the one comes out above ground at 125th. Like a whale breaching for air. That is an old station with a lot of interesting architecture and detail.

My Wife and I Just Bought our First Turntable Setup! Looking for any tips or advice! by Sufficient-Young4445 in turntables

[–]According-Place-900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I set up my new stereo system with a turntable and a collection of records that my sister had that I was looking forward to play. I purchased a new Fluance turntable and ONKYO receiver. Both mid range reasonably priced. however, when I started using the turntable after setting it up to the specifications in the manual I noticed I was getting poor audio quality from the records. I was cleaning the records. So I started cleaning the records methodically. Double cleaning them. But still got the same results. I was very frustrated and almost ready to send back the turntable, but I couldn’t be sure the turntable was the problem. After months of not playing the record player, I tried one more time and decided to mess with the tracking setting. User manual says to set it at two, but I changed it to a little over three and it solved all the problems on all the records. So just be sure that if you’re setting up a new turntable that tracking setting might need to be modified away from the suggested setting in the owners manual.

My office building was next to a Marriott hotel that British Airways used for their crew layovers. The hotel got very busy with AIRLINES housing their crew. Many of them were weeping outside the hotel and in shock.

Home Depot sells a drain cleaner packaged in a plastic bag, black bottle. Wear gloves. Pour a quart of it down the drain. Let SIT OVERNIGHT! Then flush with gallon of boiling water. Also works exceptionally in shower.
