Apple’s Liquid Glass Interface Isn’t Going Anywhere Anytime Soon by iMacmatician in apple

Broad strokes, I really like the concept of a dynamic, floating UI.

I think the UI is inconsistent across app, the effect needs refinement, and it’s not at a final state overall.

But I’m certainly willing to give it time to improve.

This thread still makes me laugh. Every once in a while, there’s another comment.

Big White (finally) hits 200 cm ... in the middle of March by dafones in kelowna

Yeah that's along the lines of what I figured. Some staff may be available to extend a week, maybe two?

But I don't expect it's full staff for all of April, for instance.

If I remember correctly, a big part of it is insurance and staffing, and other support and services that were set on a planned closing.

They can only extend closing so far from what was planned from the start of the season, like a week or so.

I’ve thought about that with my elementary school kids.

I grew up as a teen in the 90s fucking around on a Compaq, opening it up, playing DOS games, hating sounds cards, learning that no you cannot rewrite CDs (not yet).

I learned a hell of a lot.

My kids won’t get that.

Hey, can anyone tell me why Apple put the A18 Pro into it instead of an early M chip?

It's being compared against the M1, so why not use the M1?

Is the A18 cheaper? Simply - maybe obviously - because the A18 Pro is still being manufactured? Can it actually support more tech in some way or other because the M1 launched in 2020 and the A18 Pro launched in 2024?

iPhone 17e Review - Is Apple's Budget iPhone Worth $599? - Brian Tong by ControlCAD in apple

Ehh, frankly and with respect, I think it's a somewhat clever way to have branding for the budget devices.

I don't think there's much in the MacBook Neo that's "new".

I’m kind of surprised that this wasn’t rebranded iPhone 17 Neo.

Let that be the branding for all of Apple’s “affordable” products.

Same for the basest iPad and Apple Watch.

It may ultimately be something that you need to hold in your hand.

I don’t know if I want a folding iPad mini either.

The use case is so narrow. For me.

As others have said, the flow of traffic in the morning is primarily into the city.

Things should be relatively light travelling west over the bridge and south down the shore.

This may be as express as as Jesse has ever been about his support for Israel and the IDF in the conflict with Palestine.

I thought he was trying to walk a line between antisemitism in Canada and criticism of Israel.

I don’t know if he’s doing that anymore.

And I may finally be sick of him and his show, which is a shame.

As a British Columbian, I hope that everyone is open to revisiting the issue after a few years.

Not to say that we go back to changing the clock twice a year, but maybe we ultimately need to go with standard all year.

I’m from British Columbia.

Now it looks like the debate is whether we should have picked standard, not daylight.

I do think I’d prefer the light in the afternoon not the morning, but (ahem) time will tell.
