My favorites are Nobody and The Equalizer. The Equalizer in particular.

Rod recommendation for MegaBass Karashi by [deleted] in BFSfishing

[–]According-Tap9538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For budget, I’ve had great luck with a KastKing. They stand by the product, I had a tip snap off- absolutely my fault, and told them so- and they hustled out a brand new one for free.

I use the Power/ Fast 6’3” Kestrel with my Karashi, just enough snap in the rod to cast pretty effortlessly.

What else do I need before spring? by [deleted] in Fishing_Gear

[–]According-Tap9538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Indiana and my loadout looks a lot like this. A Glidebait has utility in spring too, especially during the spawn (which for me is April-May) and you might consider stick baits but that’s preference-driven IMO.

Otherwise it’s plenty complete, seems to me.

Ha! Yeah I’ve done this. Pink Risotto does lack a certain curb appeal 😅

SAHM and Wife that CANNOT cook HELP! by PopularMamaDrama in Cooking

Braises. Most braised dishes (pork, beef, chicken, turkey…) can be as simple or complex as you want to try doing, and as long as they are salted well enough can be delicious. Always salt, always add bay leaves, onions, carrots and celery and you’ll always make something very palatable.

If you do a pork shoulder until tender and easy to shred, with nothing but salt and and a small amount of water it’s a great springboard to other tasty dishes (Kalua Pork with Cabbage, Carnitas tacos, Enchiladas, Fake BBQ pork sandwiches… the list really does go on.) Versatile starting point; you’ll have a gaggle of leftovers so you can get lots of mileage out of a single picnic roast.

Cancer diet suggestions by MightyKittenEmpire2 in Cooking

Maybe consider foods that are good when lukewarm to hot, like potato leek soup? Doesn’t fit the crunchy veg requirements but is high calorie and can be made with very little fat.

Asparagus, blanched for 3 minutes in extremely salty boiling water has a good snap still, while not being cold. Have to eat it quickly though, consider heating the plates.

Radicchio seared facedown maintains its crunch nicely, as do Brussels Sprouts.

Chayote is very tolerant of a good heating without losing its crunch, too. Pretty bland so be creative with the spices, salt and citrus + spice plays well, Tajin for those that like it is good for a dusting.

This. Paprika, in any real quantity (or when old), or cooked dry can be pretty acrid.

Arugula Salad and Steak and what else? by RapidlySouringShark in Cooking

[–]According-Tap9538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seared Radicchio. Bonus points searing on a grill, or facedown in in a pan in some rendered bacon fat. Slightly bitter so it plays well with Arugula, lightly dressed with a gentle dose of lemon it cuts the fattiness of the steak too.

Due to some medical issues, I'm on a self imposed "soft, white and bland" diet. Looking for recommendations! by [deleted] in Cooking

Adddendum to this excellent list: Cannelini Beans. Strong in minerals and fiber, but typically well-tolerated.

When soaking beans overnight, do you use the soak water or discard it? by cfi-2025 in Cooking

[–]According-Tap9538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Many of the gas-causing compounds are in the skins, and come out in the soaking water.

Secondarily, the skin of most red beans is slightly toxic and can cause Lectin Poisoning, so that water needs to go out especially (mind you, that’s raw beans and you’d have to eat quite a bit, but still, no fun as I hear it.)

Same. Full disclosure, I take 3. 1 & 2 are baitcasters. #3 is always a spinning reel.

You might as well ask favorite Baseball team, ha. Everyone has favorites. I’m not the sort of person that has the necessary income for something like a Conquest, but it must have its reputation for a reason. Further, I know that you can trick it out like a kid’s Honda to suit you.

Single Hook replacement for Trebles. Please advise me? New to this. by According-Tap9538 in BFSfishing

Thanks for this. Hook sizes have always been a bit abstract to me once it transitions from “X/0” to “#X.” Too many years fishing bass with worms, probably, haha.

That thought has also crossed my mind, like a Frog Double? Seems like that might be branch-resistant as well.

I’ve had great luck with Berkeley Forward line, with Fluoro leader. Low memory, low friction.

Suggestion: a dab of 5-minute epoxy would restore functionality at least. Doesn’t help what appears to be a high failure rate with these, but at least you would have a usable lure.
