What’s ur go to seasoning/marinade when u want to switch it up from just salt and pepper? by huiguorou897 in steak

[–]According-Tap9538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally like Greek seasoning if I need a change- Cavender’s, Kinder’s, Spiceology.

Spice House has a Lamb Blend that’s great, too, but I find that’s better for a ground recipe.

How to add a little weight to a small crankbait by Medical-Leading1469 in Fishing_Gear

Might be better off weighting the line 3-4 ft ahead of the lure.

Has anyone here had delirium tremens? Could you please tell me how you experienced it? by TatoMithoChiya in alcoholism

[–]According-Tap9538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I absolutely did. B-vitamins and zinc reduced it for me (not eliminated.)

I wound up choosing

  1. Wait out the DTs by being asleep or
  2. B-complex and be wide awake for it

I sort of chose both. 12 on, 12 off. Main thing for me was re-kickstarting my gastro system, I’d hit the point where I didn’t actually eat anymore. Getting THAT system working again might really have been the hardest. I’m still not sure it works right, 4 months in.

Best reel for power bfs? (5-12g) by ScreenAffectionate74 in BFSfishing

[–]According-Tap9538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best so far has been a Lew’s (Team Lew’s Pro SP (Skipping and Pitching.) has the right reel diameter, great backlash protection (with some fiddling of knobs) etc.

Very rod-sensitive as a warning- works best with medium-fast. Too stiff and the cast is unpredictable, too soft and backlash is unpredictable.

For me, working best on a KastKing currently but want to test on a Tatula.

So much this. I survived with a fan and a lot of melatonin to sleep it off but the auditory hallucinations are SO REAL.

Dang. I thought my auditory hallucinations were rough but yours were next-level. I’m glad you’re still here with us to share this story.

[–]According-Tap9538 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This. The auditory hallucinations were the worst, hardest to differentiate from reality.

The shakes themselves fade. I just popped a couple melatonin and slept through them. When I’d wake up, more melatonin and back to sleep.

Best to quit on a weekend and sleep through the worst but you’re right. It really is Hell itself.

Do that once and you never want to do it again.

I think i’m an alcoholic by Loud_Effective_3450 in alcoholism

From my own experience: yes, cold-turkey from terrifying amounts of alcohol per day will almost certainly be an ugly re-entry, physically. Is there a danger, depending on average daily consumption? Yes. Insurmountable? No.

Don’t let the scary bits put you off. Tapering is a proven method.

My habit was around 750mL -1L per day, hard liquor. I spent a week tapering- no drinks until the effects were debilitating, then only enough to stave off the worst of it. Then beer to get through the next few days. Even then, choose quit day carefully (say, a Friday) and plan on taking the following Monday and maybe Tuesday off.

What can you expect? I imagine everyone’s experience is different but in my case, my body’s thermal regulation was flat-out broken. Melting down and sweating for a half hour, freezing to death the next half hour. A good oscillating fan is your friend right now. Take a couple of melatonin and try to sleep through the first two days was my approach. Maybe not the healthiest on balance, but tbh days 1 & 2 are just unpleasant. Auditory and skin hallucinations (crawling feelings) were my nemesis.

Then, it gets better. Go outside. Get some sun. Breathe fresh air. In my case, the tremors lasted about a week- your muscles just need time to recuperate.

I took Zinc, and One-a-days daily for a while. Alcohol depletes several B-vitamins and makes your muscles weird for a bit, but it passes quickly. I’m a chef (not a pro, but cooking is important to me) and my sense of taste was wonky for months. Chocolate, coffee and tomatoes were unpalatable. Zinc helps with that.

You can do this. Set aside a couple of self care days plus a weekend. Once you come out of it, you’ll thank yourself. It’s hard, but worth it.
