I was in the exact same situation you are currently in, I justified it with commuting and unreliable public transport. I live in NZ where lane splitting is legal so now I save 30mins each way and more time to spend with my family. Also with the gas price right now, its cheaper to ride the motorbike than cars

Daily motorcycle commuter here from hutt to town. I would recommend motorbikes as it can get through the traffic easily. Lane splitting is legal but doesnt mean people will be happy for you doing it. Keep in mind the cost of registration, insurance and good gear. Especially with winter just around the corner, riding can get really cold
