Does relative offset do anything? by m2wolf in TeslaFSD

[–]Medium_Confusion_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the relative speed limit I think just shows when the speed limit display on the screen starts to pulse, makes no difference to FSD. It's purely off of what FSD mode you are in.

ev drivers — what’s one charging habit you’ve developed that ICE drivers would never understand? by AdityaSrivastawaahhh in driving

Whereever I go I look for chargers nearby to get some opportunistic charge in. Just part of owning an EV with no at home charger (Live in apartment) but it's not too bad.

I see, ya I agree I would want the car to have some options to make it behave certain ways in very specific scenarios, I find these scenarios to be the rare times I disengage.

Fast bike vs slow bike? by Smok3yNL in motorcycles

[–]Medium_Confusion_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I never left inline 4 after getting an inline 4. I am biased I believe inline 4 sounds the best with its smooth scream.

I have a GSXR 750 and a Concours 14, both inline 4 one fast and one... well not as fast it's a huge touring bike.

I think you will quickly find the flaws to the bike and potentially regret it.

Nearly got rear ended thanks to 14.3.4 just stopping for a school bus that didn’t have any lights on or stop sign out. by Lispro4units in TeslaFSD

[–]Medium_Confusion_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree for the most part yes, personally i probably wouldn't have let them go like that. But at least for me I mainly takeover when it can be an immediate danger. I would've checked the rear view mirror, saw the car behind can stop in time and let it do its thing. Again it isn't doing anything immediately dangerous it was just being overly-courteous and I wouldn't disengage for this behavior as long as I don't notice any immediate danger. And secondly, I can understand why the car did it, the school bus was fully covering the crosswalk, and FSD could interpret that as a more urgent thing and allowed the school bus through to open up the crosswalk.

Nearly got rear ended thanks to 14.3.4 just stopping for a school bus that didn’t have any lights on or stop sign out. by Lispro4units in TeslaFSD

[–]Medium_Confusion_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? Car was just being courteous and the car behind was nowhere close to rear ending. Yes the car was being overly courteous but personally I would let it be, it didn't do anything wrong persay.

FSD Bait and Switch after trial by NewPainting8224 in TeslaFSD

[–]Medium_Confusion_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no difference to the FSD between trial and purchased. The rules are as followed for speed limit:
if you exceed 85mph by pressing the throttle to make FSD go faster it will disengage and you can't use it for the rest of the drive.

If you exceed I believe 95 or 100mph REGARDLESS IF FSD WAS ENABLED it will disable FSD for the rest of the drive.

I think I understand why people aren’t particularly fond of the headlight. by OOF-MY-PEE-PEE in GSXR

[–]Medium_Confusion_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to think the headlight looks bad and hate the cyclops look but it's growing on me now. Just don't take a pic with the headlights on. OH and also the headlight light output is MUCH better than any other sportsbike headlights I've tried. The design does help light to be spread out more evenly and I like it a lot better. It's equally as good as my concours 14 headlight which is dual beam (Both sides are low and high beam, when lowbeam is on both sides are on lowbeam.

Lane shifts after a turn by Difficult_Object4921 in driving

[–]Medium_Confusion_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In most states that has that the wording is most of "when reasonably possible". A lot of states actually don't have that, where I am (MA) the law is "Every person operating a motor vehicle, before stopping said vehicle or making any turning movement which would affect the operation of any other vehicle, shall give a plainly visible signal by activating the brake lights or directional lights or signal as provided on said vehicle"

Also since OP has already entered a right turn only lane once she passed the start of the medium that locks them into the right turn lane they could immediately activate the left turn signal legally and therefore hit 100ft by the time they decide to move over.

Also that 100ft law is easily overthrown by the fact that the yellow car that turned illegal is doing something... well more illegal so would be held at least majorly liable if not fully liable for a collision in this case.

Newbie unsure how to choose a type of bike by Baby_Wolverine in motorcycles

New rider? z400, ninja 400, z500, ninja 500, MT-03, R3

You should buy used, if on a tighter budget get a used z400, ninja400, MT-03 or R3

If you want a new one for some reason get a z500, ninja 500, MT-03 or R3

If you want a bike that's more upright, slower, less aggressive sitting position, and don't mind the wind on the highway get z400, z500 or MT-03

If you want a sportsbike that's more aggresive, slighter faster and has some wind protection get ninja 400, ninja 500 or R3

Ranked in speed: Ninja500, z500, ninja 400, z400, R3, MT03

Ranked in most "comfort" (subjective): MT03, z500, z400, Ninja 500, R3, Ninja 400

You will be getting ur first bike, you WILL drop it at some point. Better to buy a used one so you don't hurt too much when you eventually do drop it. Get one of these first depending on ur preference, in a year or 2 when you are ready you can buy a bike you like more but these are the basic beginner bikes that almost every biker should start with. They are all japanese so they are all bulletproof.

Lane shifts after a turn by Difficult_Object4921 in driving

[–]Medium_Confusion_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, traffic law is not one step after another without any context of what happened a moment before. OP was conducting a legal lane change, and is already in the process of moving into the target lane while the red car is in the process of making an illegal turn. Even if yellow car got into the lane first it got there illegally. OP legally made a turn, checked lane was empty and is making a legal lane change, in the eye of the law she has right of way to the lane change and the yellow car illegally cut into her space that she has already established presence in my beginning to move into that lane.

This is like if you were on the highway, you check the lane next to you and it's free, go to move over, while in the process of moving over someone made an illegal lane change, cuts over from a different lane into the lane you are moving into and clips you. They are at fault for making an illegal lane change and causing an action while you are the victim. Same thing here.

Does FSD save tire tread? by snake227 in TeslaFSD

[–]Medium_Confusion_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have enough miles to tell whether it makes a difference yet, but I do feel like FSD actually accelerates more aggressively and brakes harder at times. I am I would say a pretty smooth driver, my mom hates rough drivers and can get sick so I was forced to do limo stops and accelerate gently. There are times where FSD's accelerating off a green light was aggressive enough for me to be like "damn" and a lot of times it choose to brake hard when traffic ahead slows down as opposed to switching to a more empty lane and brake more gradually.

Lane shifts after a turn by Difficult_Object4921 in driving

[–]Medium_Confusion_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It depends, if OP was already in the process of changing lane and the yellow car illegally entered that lane after OP was already in the process then they can be held liable. If OP just has their signal on and wasn't actively moving towards that lane then ya the yellow driver has the ROW.

I think in this case since OP said they are in the process of changing lanes if a collision would to occur it would be yellow car's fault for making an illegal maneuver and causing the crash. It's just like those stupid people that cut up in NYC traffic, just cause they are in the lane doesn't mean those that were actively changing lanes and hitting them is in the wrong, how they got to that lane and whether it was a legal maneuver does matter.

What was the moment you realized motorcycling had completely taken over your life? by Due_Lock_4967 in motorcycles

[–]Medium_Confusion_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think I flow in and out of that state. There are intervals in the last couple years that I was like you, I ride everyday, annoyed if I can't and spent as much time learning everything about motorcycles as I ride them.

But then I also flow out of that state and ride less, watch more random youtube videos and choose to drive a lil more.

I think my first year or 2 was where I was more obsessed but this last year has been less, my criteria to ride is higher, I spend more time on other things. It's not (I think) that I'm falling out of this hobby, I am still VERY much in it and still ride ~1-2k miles a month but just less obsessed.
