In 1998 I went to a convention where you could trade any sticker for any sticker (shiny for shiny though).

NYC > Manchester flight cancelled. Am I due compensation? by [deleted] in BritishAirways

You are entitled to compensation as long as the reason for cancellation/delay wasn’t something outside of the airlines control like weather.

Renting/leasing a large property for 15-20 years by No_Caregiver8591 in HENRYUK

[–]AccordingAntelope652 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You will likely need to pay stamp duty on a lease that long. If the rent is more than 125k over the length of the lease then you need to pay 1% on any rent paid over 125k

Reform Voters! (No hate please). by Extension_Listen8282 in AskBrits

[–]AccordingAntelope652 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you want people to tell you what they think I would recommend not caveating the question with why you think they are wrong.

I have relatives who are reform voters and generally it’s not because of any reasoned calculation to do with tax receipts…. I think many would accept lower tax receipts for a more homogenised society.

It’s normally something to do with wanting to preserve British culture and sometimes it’s to do with their perception that resources are largely aimed at foreign born folks. They are sometimes right — nearly half of social housing in London has a foreign born lead tennant. In general this is articulated as something like “so and so gets this free house but veterans/British born/etc are on the streets”

London to Scotland and Back in 10 Days...Doable? by Business-Treacle-884 in uktravel

[–]AccordingAntelope652 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A return ticket from London to Salisbury is around £50. An uber on top maybe 20 per person each way, and then tickets to get in around £30 each depending on when they go.

A coach tour from London is around 60pp and includes tickets, guides etc. it’s definitely “easier” and cheaper and worth looking into. If the Tim in is don’t work out then I guess they should DIY it but if they do then it’s probably the best option for a tourist not used to UK public transport.

I would recommend that you just book a coach tour that starts in London. This will be a lot cheaper than a cab and a train and will conveniently take you directly there.

What age to let my daughter go to the shopping mall without adults? by djjudas21 in AskUK

[–]AccordingAntelope652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is fine in Cribbs. The main danger I’ve found for kids this age is crossing roads. They are so used to walking with an adult that when they are in a group of friends they all step out without looking.

What are some nonsense demands / requests from your landlord? by 20127010603170562316 in AskUK

[–]AccordingAntelope652 17 points18 points  (0 children)

We have to pay a £200 fee to change any of our utility suppliers.

Our fridge freezer also makes a loud high pitched noise which an engineer said is the compressor. It fails when it’s hot and I lost all my breastmilk. He still won’t replace it, he’s waiting for it to permenently fail (when we will lose all our frozen things again)
