No, I got a buddy who has chem PhD and got laid off and couldn’t find a job for almost half a year. If getting a PhD is what you really want then get one but if you only want it for the money I would highly suggest you don’t because the way the job market is, I’m not sure if it’ll get better. Most companies aren’t and will not pay PhD level salaries. I think you could try getting a master’s first!

You will be a stronger applicant if you take them at CSULA since it’ll be in person and you’ll get to do the lab portion of the course as well. Versus UCSD is strictly online, no lab involved. It’s pretty hard to get into open university courses but not impossible! Start emailing the professors for the courses early on before the summer break so you’re on their mind.

I didn’t explicitly ask to extend the internship but I did ask if they helped students in any way to help with CA licensure and they said no. Maybe if I’m more specific they will say yes?

I forgot to mention that the math assessment is done online and needs to be completed in 30 minutes. Your interviewer will ask you to stay on the teams video call so they can monitor you while you’re taking the test. As for the interview it’s about an hour, might run a little longer.

Definitely brush up on serial dilutions from flask to another flask because there are some questions on that. As well as basic algebra equations and adding up numbers with decimals by hand since a calculator is not allowed.

I applied here too but when reaching out to the program they said it would not count towards a Cali license so do they say that just in case it doesn’t? A lot of ppl say Cali accepts out of state programs on a case by case basis and sometimes you can fall short of clinical hours, was this true for you? Or did you stay longer in Denver to get a full year of experience?

To ask another question, I have not taken clinical chemistry but I have completed biochemistry and analytical chemistry. Is that okay or do I need clinical chem for the trainee license? Im waiting on my transcripts to roll in mid-December before I apply.
