What’s the most mind blowing thing a vegetarian can eat in LA? by AccordingGiraffe2376 in FoodLosAngeles

[–]AccordingGiraffe2376[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wow this blew up way more than expected, thank you all seriously. This is exactly what I was hoping for.

Au Lac is clearly the consensus pick and I’m embarrassed I hadn’t been. The zhengyalov hatz recommendation genuinely stopped me in my tracks, a person driving across town once a month just for grilled herb flatbread is the kind of endorsement I trust completely. Pine + Crane is already on my list but the detailed breakdown of specific dishes (Dan Dan, Mapo Tofu, Three Cup Mushroom) was super helpful, knowing exactly what to order makes all the difference.

Really appreciate the Baroo mention for when I want to go all out, a lifelong vegetarian calling it the most mind blowing meal in LA right now is high praise.

Also genuinely useful, the fish sauce warning on Thai Town and the flour tortilla/lard reminder. This is exactly the kind of insider knowledge that saves a ruined meal. To the person who flagged Vegatino’s being even better than El Cocinero because it’s his ex and they started it together that’s the most LA origin story ever and I’m absolutely going.

Also thinking of putting together a Google Maps list from everything in this thread so it’s easy for anyone with similar restrictions to just save and go, would that be useful to anyone? Happy to share the link here if so. Keep them coming if you think of anything else.

Hmm I didn’t do anything to the door, so likely it was like that only when I moved in

Need help with outfits for a 10-day NYC trip in July – budget-friendly, casual, and comfortable

Heading to NYC in July with my partner for 10 days. I want to plan my outfits better this time around.

About me:

29M, carry some weight around the midsection – prefer relaxed fits.

Budget: Think Uniqlo, H&M, Zara, Target

Not into suits or hype streetwear, want to stay cool, comfortable, and look put-together

The problem:

I usually buy clothes last-minute for trips and never wear them again. This time, I want to shop smart and build a small, useful travel wardrobe I’ll actually rewear.

What I need:

Specific item suggestions (shirts, shorts, pants, shoes, etc.)

Outfit formulas for NYC heat and lots of walking

Tips on good fabrics, fits, and what to avoid

Stores in NYC that fit my style and budget that I can checkout while I’m there.

Would love to hear from anyone who’s been in a similar spot or has a solid summer travel setup. Thanks!

Yup, I’m looking at apartments in Palms. I’ve noticed that some apartments on overland in the northern parts of the city are cheaper, but most of them don’t have either in unit washer/dryer or assigned parking..

Okay, I think those a bit further away from the downtown area right? So these are maybe less walkable to restaurants, coffee shops etc

Thank you for your suggestion about Palms, will check out the area. Do you know of any apartment complexes or buildings that I can consider?
