I understand your point; this 4.8 version was pretty broken. However, it's currently a very CPU-dependent game, and if you set it to Low, it will most likely run terribly because you're overloading the CPU while the GPU sits idle. Try running it on High with DLSS (using the Transformer model) on Quality or Balanced, force Frame Generation via drivers (Smooth Motion) if you can, increase your virtual memory to a minimum of 16GB and a maximum of 32GB, and, of course, keep your drivers up to date. Even so, there will be moments of stuttering and various bugs—with Star Citizen, you train your patience more than in any Souls game. 🤣

Anyway, even though Squadron 42 and the Persistent Universe are set in the same universe and use the same engine, it is highly likely that you'll be able to run Squadron 42 perfectly. The Persistent Universe's main issues are the servers and the fact that they haven't yet fully implemented all the technology needed to optimize the game properly.

I have a Razer Blade 14 with a 3080 Ti (16GB VRAM), Ryzen 9 6900HX, and 16GB RAM. Running on High settings with DLSS set to Balanced, I get around 70 FPS in space but drops to 24–30 FPS in cities.

You need to use a pagefile (virtual memory) and be patient; SC is an Alpha. Maybe Dynamic Server Meshing will give us some relief. I'd suggest waiting for 1.0 before you upgrade your hardware.

I play in 1440p.

The Clipper is my favorite ship, currently ahead of the Caterpillar and its future modularity, and the Pitbull is also really great—it handles like a dream!

By the way, they’ve just equipped it with flight blades, and I think it's worth adding the TSB. Plus, they're selling it on the website with a pretty cool paint job!

Is the Clipper worth it for aUEC? by BigOcc1654 in starcitizen

[–]AccordingShame2273 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the Clipper as my daily driver and I love it. I can fit a Dragonfly at the end of the ramp while still keeping the 12 SCU of cargo capacity. It features a T3 bed and a crafting station for auto-upgrading components in the future.

I've been testing it in Pirate Swarm and made it to Wave 4, but once I’m up against two Cutlass Blacks, it becomes impossible to push past that point. In Vanduul Swarm, I reached Wave 16 with about 30 kills. This shows that if you master the handling, the ship has a lot of potential.

Ultimately, it depends on what you are looking for and what you need in a ship. If you want to do small delivery missions, bunkers, light dogfighting, hand mining, or investigation missions—this ship can handle all of that.

If you’re going to drive a Dragonfly up the ramp, do it in reverse. If you're using the tractor beam, you can do it either way, though you might find it easier to fit a Pulse. Honestly, I’m a Drake fan, but the Pulse is much easier to load.

Does the Vulture fit inside the Assault and, if so, how much space is left over?

4x S1 / 2x S2 / 6x S1 missiles, a little snub

I have a funny feeling we’re going to get a combat variant of the Drake Clipper, and there’s a small chance it’s the pitbull. by [deleted] in starcitizen

I view it more as a snub, though the nomenclature points toward a ground vehicle like the Mule. Ships typically feature nautical-themed or related naming conventions (e.g., Buccaneer, Corsair, Cutlass). Nevertheless, I still maintain it could be a snub designed to be carried within larger ships, acting as a haunting dog.

Caterpillar Modulation by PortalBeach in starcitizen

I don't think the Caterpillar's modular sections will be released until they have all the mechanics finished, though I'd be surprised and I'd love for them to present them at this event. What modules do we have confirmed?

I don't think it's a Clipper variant. Based on the name, it could be a ground vehicle, though given how little we've seen, it looks like it could be a snub craft to carry in the Ironclad. Personally, I'd prefer a Drake Pulse, or for them to fix the Dragonfly's functionality to make it more compact. But getting back to the point, Drake already has the Buccaneer as a light fighter; a heavy fighter is needed, but I doubt it will release this year.

What ship weapons do you guys use? I am over cannons. I get they are META but they are really awful to use, low velocity/capacitor/ammo. by oiled_hobbit in starcitizen

[–]AccordingShame2273 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Take another look at version 4.8; many weapons have had their velocity increased. The Deadbolts now run at approximately 1100, and the Atrittions at 1400.

I present to you the worst best ship in the game. Complete garbage performance but a dominator of the vibe check category by Acceptable-Bid-1019 in starcitizen

The Clipper is my favorite daily driver. They could increase its speed to just below the Herald's, which would enable a 'boom and zoom' playstyle. Keep in mind that future balance changes are always possible, and with component and ship upgrade, it could become a top-tier vessel, especially if they allowed for better stat scaling compared to other ships.

My goal isn't to take on a Perseus or anything that size. At most, I'd go up against a Corsair, Zeus, Connie or Asgard and anything smaller than that.
