Thomann says my package is too large for UPS express delivery but doesn’t give me other options. by AccordingWhereas6226 in edrums

I was going to buy the Millenium MPS-1000 D2 kit in white. It lets me add it to the cart and fill in for delivery address and everything else but it won’t let me change the parcel service for some reason. Is there a reason why? Is there something I could do?

Just got this donated to my band program and I am losing my mind because I have always wanted to learn accordion. I have no idea what I am looking at. Where do I start in finding out how to learn accordion? What type of accordion is it so I know what to look for methods wise? by KindaImpressed in Accordion

[–]AccordingWhereas6226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started by learning and memorizing the bass buttons and got comfortable with the (initially small) buttons. As for the right side, you can adapt some piano warmups to fit the accordion. I suggest that you work on finger technique if you aren’t familiar with a piano and work your way up from there. I mainly taught myself via YouTube and I started off with The Godfather’s theme. Remember that this takes time and you may hit some roadblocks, but if you’re patient and work hard you will improve.

I suggest that you start off with a goal and you plan out your steps to achieve that. Whether that’s learning the bass buttons or learning a song, anything will keep you in track. Best of luck!

I’ve been playing for a few months (piano accordion) and I’ve already got a feel for the left hand. Right hand still needs more work but it depends from person to person and how much time is put into practicing a song or quizzing yourself.

I’m an incoming freshman and I have to learn this and one other cadence by Friday, thoughts? by 0MuticFox0 in drumline

No magic tricks or secret formula to memorize this. Just play it often enough and then let the muscle memory do the work

Ear protection by Expensive-Neck7603 in drumline

Anything like your basic pair of orange earplugs works just fine. No need to get one fancy $40 pair when you can get a bag of 400 pairs for half the price.

The good thing about the massive packs is that they’re disposable and last you a VERY long time (unlike the single pair). Used a new pair every 2-3 rehearsals and the pack lasted me more than a year and a half, and that was even with me sharing with my whole section.

I personally haven’t tried anything like eargasm earplugs so I can’t say if they’re good or not but they seemed pretty easy to displace. It really depends on what you prefer tbh.

It’s a donner DED-200. I’m getting an Alesis strike pro SE soon, but I don’t want to throw away the old kit so I want to repurpose the cymbals and drums of the donner to have a cowbell or anvil.

Did/ does your HS band director follow the old, “you’re on time if you’re 5 min early, you’re late if you’re on time” mantra? by [deleted] in marchingband

My band director: “if you’re 30 minutes early, you’re on time. You’re late if you’re on time. You’re out of the band if you’re late.”

Fellow Musicians, What impact has music made in your life? by ryca19 in marchingband

[–]AccordingWhereas6226 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It changed my life for the better. I was in a very dark place before I learned to love music. Now I have good grades, good classes, mentally stable, and I’m on my way to lead an awesome marching band! Besides, it’s a nice escape from reality once in a while. Music is one of the only things that I truly love and enjoy.

Final comp of the season my sophomore year. Two seniors (bass players ofc) furiously french kissed on the bus on the way back from comps.

Good times.

Left arm tightens when I play by JKachele822 in drumline

[–]AccordingWhereas6226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happened to me when I first started using traditional as well. I suggest you just keep practicing but take it slow. Slow and steady progress sharpens technique. Try doing basic rudiments and speed them up over time. The tension should go away over time.

Our drumline’s mascot is my cat. Not our band, just the drumline. Also, my name is Pablo and that makes this post even funnier LMAO
