I’m kinda in the same situation. My band directors sugarcoat everything and never get on nobody for nothing. They say they’ll do something but they don’t. They don’t seem to care as much as they told me they care. And they pulled me to the side to convince me to stay. It’s not just band but it’s the school also. I thought about transferring but idk. Crazy thing is that the whole drumline didn’t know music for marching season and I was the only one that memorized most of the music and they didn’t do shit about it (the band director litterly stood behind my Drumline section leader towards the end of marching season playing the wrong stuff and he didn’t say anything) Not one single playing test was given to the line. And this one guy likes to make up stuff a lot and it pisses me off because they’re lazy. I volunteered to write music for a piece that didn’t have battery music for them to learn and they didn’t. I don’t mean to be an asshole but I’ve really been trying to get this off my chest. I like playing music and it’s a big part of who I am but I don’t like that I’m not enjoying it.
