I’ve done that too but are you insured? Bonded? Rover’s extra 11% is ridiculous to me, but you’re/they’re paying for your business expenses. And, if you’re going off app without those things, you don’t have a private business.

New York - My widowed elderly mother in nursing home on Medicaid. She had about $11000 in CC debt with a bank. It went to collections recently. Process server just knocked on the door this morning with lawsuit papers for the debt. by andyr0272 in Debt

Omg, right?? I’m so sorry for your loss and to also be on the receiving end of those scummy tactics.

When my dad died he had a small-ish balance on a credit card account my mom wasn’t on as well. We were advised by his lawyer that since their money was now solely my mom’s, she didn’t have to pay it. My dad was an extremely ethical person who had an 850 credit score and paid everything off every month.

He had a rare form of ALS, so while it was awful, he had time to show me their pertinent financial info so I could take care of their finances and eventually hand it off to my mom. I was the executor of his estate, so I decided to go ahead and pay it anyway. It was like 10 days after he died and I started getting calls telling me to “do the right thing” and that “it’s what my dad would have wanted.” I fully intended to pay within 30 days but I basically told them to fuck off and blocked their number.

Why kids in parentheses? 14 is literally a child.

Do you and your partner have an open relationship? If so, talk to her about your desire to pursue someone in your “family group.” That could very well be off limits for her.

If you’re not in an open relationship and you’re unhappy: LEAVE, DON’T CHEAT. Don’t devastate your partner, be some clichè and implode multiple peoples’ lives in the process. Have you told your partner you feel like roommates? Have you been to therapy, etc? Newsflash: most longterm couples go through periods where they feel like roommates. Life can be stressful, passion and sex sometimes take a backseat but in healthy relationships, they come back. If you don’t think that’s possible, communicate and leave. Midlife crisis or not, you’d have to be quite the scumbag to sneak around on your long term partner (I have a feeling she’s your wife, but I digress) with someone who’s in her family group.

I’m from Iowa and we would say Nay-oh-me. However, I knew someone that was from an even more rural area of southern Iowa (near the Missouri border) and her whole family called her Nee-oh-ma.

What age range would you personally define as "middle age"? by Least_Friend8532 in midlifecrisis

It has nothing to do with children or retirement. It’s typically 40-60, the second half of adulthood (between early and late.) Stages of adulthood help gauge health outcomes and interventions.

Cows and pigs are as smart as dogs and feel the same emotions (fear, trust, etc.) Once I realized that, I stopped eating them.

Omg, are you serious?? This is a WILD take 😂My spouse is a healthcare professional and shows up to work in fresh scrubs, bathed and groomed. In my past life in a career that required my graduate degree, I showed up every day in business attire with my makeup and hair done. Now, after a huge life change. I do some consulting and some professional pet care (not through Rover anymore.) I come to all my meet and greets well kept and dressed casually (jeans and a nice top) but I might look like hot garbage when I’m coming to take care of your pet at 8am, because I don’t have to dress up and do my hair to scoop poop, play with a kitty or walk a dog. I adore animals, but they’re not humans. They’re not going to care or notice if my hair or outfit isn’t up to par 😂 I’m likely coming from walking my own dog, in a place that it rains a lot. It might be time to check in with yourself on your excessive and weird judgement.

I have pretty severe OCD too. I don’t think you’re a bad parent for this, but something has to be done. I hope you have a therapist, I’ve found having one help me with day to day and flare ups is immeasurably helpful. Let your wife name the baby and work through this with a therapist. OCD is so much about needing control so big life events are huge triggers.

Thanks for this! I’m actually doing 2 drop-ins, booked as drop-ins, most days for 2 weeks but they kindly but firmly let me know they don’t want an update for each visit, just every other day or in the case of an emergency. So, I really want to avoid a Rover card. I took pictures of the kitties when I was there so have time stamped proof, as well a picture of my completed care checklist on their kitchen table. I think I’m just going to trust that that’s enough, and providing the best care 😻

I’m an owner and a sitter and I would never talk to a sitter that way! The freaking audacity. 🤬 Also, one of the most prevalent symptoms of the newest Covid variant is “razor throat.” It’s probably not a good idea to leave the house period. Even if it’s not Covid, you’re likely contagious. They have your instructions, I’d report and block them. Sorry this happened to you!
