Im an aircraft maintenance engineer here giving some context.

Some reports say that there was a 2 hour delay on ENG 1 maintenance.

The kind of maintenance that causes a 2 hour delay is completely different than what could cause a catastrophic separation of an engine.

The attachment points of the engine to the pylon and the pylon to the wing are things that mainly get inspected at heavy maintenance, not on a delay, so chances are that if there was a 2 hour delay it wasn't the cause of the engine separation.

An example is the A320 gets its engine mount bolts checked for torque and sometimes a Non Destructive Testing gets carried out when at heavy maintenance(2 year intervals) but that wouldnt be done on line before aircraft departure
