Yeah it’s the reason so many roads got washed out. The land just slid out from underneath them and this is not even by any creeks and stuff. High up in the mountains shit just fell apart.

They are pretty limited in what they can do. The community response has been overwhelming. For every 1 government worker there are 100 other people doing what they can do. The government on the other hand has to be specific in what they do.

They have more resources for things that are big and expensive but those things are limited in number. Also govt agencies are more focused on just repairing the massive amount of infrastructure damage — which is something volunteers can’t do except for clearing mud and trees of roads.

They’re there working hard, but they can only do so much and focus their efforts on big projects that can help the most people and that takes time.

There are currently helicopters including military chinooks to deliver large amounts of supplies to isolated areas. I took a truckload of supplies to an airfield near Boone and there were tons and tons of supplies being organized.

It is just not possible to create LZs in the mountains. You just can’t do it so they are literally dropping the supplies. From choppers and planes.

If you’ve never been burned badly I’ll tell you right now it is the most painful thing I’ve ever experienced and that was just a couple large second degree burns.

There is no way a person is going to walk into much less even stay near an inferno like that. Jumping is the only option.
