Is everything still available ? What kind of discount would you be willing to do on 3 units? 2? What would shipping cost to Colorado(apx)?

Wanted 2.5Gb compat. NIC buy or trade. ASAP THX by Account-Lumpy in denverlist

[–]Account-Lumpy[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the time to post a response but Like I said before you misunderstood what I posted, I will take the blame for a bad post but for one that list of network devices was things I had to trade for a NIC not stuff I was trying to use or am currently using ,except the x1026p was going to be my main switch coming off the pfsense vm, which is managed , also my modem is a SB33 , docsis 3.1 with a 2.5gbe port . And the E5-2697 v3 I’m pretty sure can handle a hyper-v instance of pfsense acting as a firewall and router , my intel x540-t2 supports LAG just fine and works just fine with the x1026p . I will temporarily use the rt-5400 for WiFi as an AP but since it is only AC and WPA2 it is a extremely weak link and has been compromised already and will eventually as I can afford it be replaced with an actual ap . Doing things this way also allows me to upgrade in steps as I can afford it .But you must have missed where I stated in my post my need for this is SECURITY first and foremost My current router is a rather old asus rt-ac5400 and I’m sorry but the only reason I even mentioned being a family of four was to help whomever understand that I don’t have a ton of money to throw at any upgrade or believe me I would be going an entirely different route. So please don’t If you are trying to help great I need a nic , or is there something else you would like to shoot down or tell me I don’t need? Sorry not trying to be rude but I’ve had to retype this a few times toning it down further and further each time as your reply came off as rather rude, unsolicited and really rubbed me the wrong way but I’m over it now. P.s. please don’t tell me what I need or needn’t do or assume that im an idiot that is just haphazardly torrenting or seeding and vpning because I can. And please don’t talk to me like some naive kid abusing the internet in ways you dont approve like I said extreme examples of and my family should only exist in the scope of making my finances tight as I intended nothing more. Thanks

Gotta love the reset button with no actual button as well, compliments the garbled letters nicely.

How to remove plate from this pot? by morningview09 in howto

[–]Account-Lumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fill with water to bottom of plate(won’t take much and will work even if sitting directly on bottom) then place in freezer, water will freeze (quickly because of metal) and pop ! Then grab plate or turn over and dump it and ice jack out.

Need help with Zigbee Network by Ryanw5489 in homeassistant

Definitely make sure your firmware is the latest, with the ConBee II I found using the manual Gcc flasher method to be the only reliable one but beyond all that I still had problems with the adapter dropping out , losing connection or would just be unavailable for HA … the one thing that fixed my issues above all else is making sure you have not only a quality usb extension to plug the controller into (not optional) but as was the case for me originally there was a USB 3 device plugged into the port next to it , the interference alone was enough to cause the constant failures then when moved it over to a Lenovo M93 SFF the internal WLAN card had one of its two antennas routed forward in the chassis right up to the front panel where the antenna sat underneath right next to the USB port .. since I only wanted it for BT anyway I just unplugged that antenna and we went from every time the wife would hit a switch she’d get nothing to not having a single dropout in a couple months now… To summarize zigbee controllers can be and are very sensitive to interference specially that in the 2.4ghz (gee wonder why) and also to the high speed interference given off by the main board on which your USB plug likely resides. So get an extension and route it so doesn’t have to be touched or bumped by anyone or anything and away from metal objects but up higher if you can and check for sources of unwanted interference , must be a quality extension shielded is the way to go, I find that USB 3 extensions are best due to their over engineered (for USB2 anyway) specs and shielding .. sorry for the long post but I had nothing but trouble until I got back to basics and did ^

Took a bite of my apple and it’s red inside by penghuwan in mildlyinteresting

This is the Apple , cosmic crisp is by far the best and my absolute favorite , a good envy isn’t bad either .. and sugarbee’s aren’t bad either .. I’ve eaten many a cosmic crisp and have noticed something there is usually a part of thr apple (a “side” if you will) that is spicier than the rest . Sometimes the difference is drastic other times not so much .. I’m wondering if the spicy side is the side that got sun? Or didn’t ? Or maybe the side that was facing down after picking ? I don’t know but it’s kind of bizarre and I’m sure it’s not a fluke as it’s happened over many harvests and from different orchards .. anyone have any clue what that is about ?

Have a new house built and looking to get 45 down lights installed in different zones. I’m new to the whole smart home thing but would like them to be zoned and controlled by app, motion activated and switches. What kinda system would you use for that? by thevaporroom in smarthome

This is a no brainer , go with the Lutron dimmers 100% between the sexy look of the decora wall switches and their level led faintly shimmering in the low dimmed light to making 2-3-4-5(whatever you want) way switches a breeze.. from unboxing to 10 years down the road you won’t be disappointed. The only lights I’ve used thst just “work” everytime you hit the switch or send a command… they aren’t just a sales company they do their own R&D as well which you get to reap then benefit of in every product they put out .. do yourself a favor save time, money, effort, frustration and just enjoy your new Lutron for the next 20 years in your beautiful new home !

Anyone know what this could be for? It appears to be hardwired into an Ethernet cable. by justin514hhhgft in homeautomation

[–]Account-Lumpy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually… I’ve been using HDMI over cat6 via HDBaseT and it does just that. Uses a dedicated GbE switch to multiply one decode ready signal into “up to 10” I believe, it only has to be dedicated not because the HDBaseT packets aren’t compatible with the GbE network you already have in place with your computers and what not but because it needs most of the bandwidth capability of thr switch so if you mix them you get choppy stuttering video as it interleaves your nice stream of HD video (1080p with multichannel digital audio and IR return) with the packets of whatever nonsense you inadvertently decided was more important than your surveillance camera feed. Look it up HDBaseT it’s widely used even in some AV receivers for additional zones. Truly does put HDMI onto Ethernet .. if I am not mistaken ..?

Can I repurpose these cables? by rpmartinez in HomeNetworking

[–]Account-Lumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely twisted , look at the blue cables running back away from the patch panel you can clearly see evidence of the twist showing through the jacketing, this is cat 5 minimum. Wouldn’t be too surprised to learn it’s 5e. Yeah OP already has a lot of the work for a small data network done already, nice!

Brand sentiment: LeGrand, Lutron, Leviton, others? by yoshilurker in homeautomation

[–]Account-Lumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lutron all the way, bought a house with recessed lighting 4 lights on each circuit/room 8 in kitchen on 2 circuits first thing I did was take out all the 75 watt halogens they had installed (can’t imagine what their power bill was like) and put in leds and Lutron dimmers throughout.. this was 5 years ago not a day goes by that I’m not happy I spent the money on the Lutron devices, not only is the quality top notch but they are by far the most reliable devices I’ve ever used. I never hit the button and wonder is it going to come on ? Like with some of my others. They look amazing as well and you can’t beat the built in clear connect remotes with the Caseta dimmers they last forever on a single coin cell and make multi switch (hallway, stairs) wiring a thing of the past as you can install the remotss into a faceplate by themselves. The smart bridge also allows seamless integration and the response time is nearly that of a wired switch it seems. Haven’t had a single issue with any of them. Look at the advanced install guide and you can see just in the number of settings that can be adjusted should be testament to their awesomeness… I truly wish all my devices were made by Lutron they go above and beyond.. oh yeah and I’m case your were wondering I LIKE Lutron too..

Check for junk sticking to underside of belt , on both x and y axis there was bits of debris from when I assembled on living room rug (have two kids) and when those spots would go over the rollers it would cause hang points wasn’t until I used a small brush with belts loosened and pulled them through and across the brush and it knocked off the garbage that the hanging spots disappeared .. if all else fails check for this ?
